Very sharp. Although all small chisels are difficult to sharpen, this one is not any more difficult than the others. Well made.

After having purchased 2 larger chisels previously and being satisfied with their quality, I decided to try the 1/4" (6mm) version. As soon as I opened it I could see the blade is crooked relative to the handle, by about 3-4 degrees. This is an unacceptable flaw which makes the chisel unusable and unsafe. I'll go ahead and try a more expensive brand and return this one. Should have been QC'd and never made it out of the warehouse.

I didn’t know beforehand that there’s a bit of setup with Japanese chisels, but the setup was rather enjoyable and now I’m more invested in the tool than just monetarily. It isn’t the most beautiful of this style of chisel, but it’s very well made. Though, after setting the hoop (soak the end), I did refinish that shiny handle. Flatten the back, and sharpen. Whole thing felt like a pleasant ritual.
