Canon lens hoods are always overpriced

The packaging of this item was damaged. It appeared to be an open box item. Given the price point of this item, and the fact that it's just a piece of plastic, I didn't care too much about this. However, it is just a small piece of plastic. There is no reason you need to buy the Canon-branded version of this lens hood over the third-party options out there, which are much cheaper.Frankly, all direct interactions I've had with Canon in the past were poor, and therefore I would always prefer to buy from another retailer instead of directly from Canon if I have to purchase Canon branded products. Amazon made this purchase easy, and I didn't have to deal with Canon at all.

This lens hood fits perfectly on the EF-M 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3. If you need a hood for that lens, or just want one so your camera looks more legit, buy this.

The hood snaps perfectly to place with a satisfactory click. It eliminates lens flare when I don't need it so I am happy.

Canon lens hoods are expensive (and should be included with the lens) but nonetheless, they fit well and are very tough. Easy to put on and take off and are well designed so cause little or no vignetting. I don't use them so much to prevent flair, as to protect the lens from bumps. I've had occasion to try two off-brand ones and neither fit and worked as well as the canon ones.
