I ordered this more for fun than any real need to have it. At first I thought it was broken, because I pulled it out of the box, pointed it south, and it was showing me that I was facing north. However, there was a north arrow on the top of the compass that was pointing north. I couldn't figure it out. I mounted in my truck anyway, and then it made sense. They print the numbers opposite so that when you are driving it shows you the correct direction. Let me explain. If think of an old boy scout/hiking compass that has a needle, the north part of the needle points to the north. Well with this the north part of the ball points north. So if you were driving north, the north part of the ball would be facing north, and you in the drivers seat, would see the south arrow. So all of that to say, don't worry if if it seems wrong at first.

I've had a compass in the car since I can remember and these days most vehicles have the kind that is either built into the rearview mirror or part of the dashboard display. The one on my vehicle is no longer working so I ordered this one. It is the first of these I've used in many years and the first thing I noticed is the size. It is larger than I thought it would be.__________Pros: 1. Easy to install. So far the mounting pad has held up even during rough driving. 2. Easy to read. Due to the compasses larger size the information is easy to read from the drivers seat. 3. Reads from the front position without any adjustment.__________Cons: 1. There is no way to calibrate it to true North so you have to accept that it is accurate without being able to verify.I was satisfied with my order. The compass is easy to use and read and does not require any adjustment. The price is quite fair for what you get. I would have preferred that it had the ability to be calibrated as a unit without having to compare it to another compass with a verified true North setting but other than that this product is solid. Having a compass in your vehicle is always a good idea. This one is simple and easy to read so if you're just looking for a functional compass then this should suffice.
