It's perfect we have 6 Buff Orpington chicks in it, we put puppy peepee pads in the bottom and then put pine shavings over them. Cleaning is easy. Would buy again.

TL;DR: I'm quite glad to have this, but if I were looking for one of these to buy, I would not buy this one. This is made to put chicks/ducklings in. Poultry are messy. Given its shape, it can't be tuned inside out. That's ok though, implies the product, because the inside floor mat is removeable and washable! Oi.The inside floor mat is a circle (and thus a different shape than the inner dimensions it is made to cover), and there is nothing whatsoever to keep it flat and covering the full floor. As the ducklings move, they will wrinkle it up, and gross floor content is going to go beneath. Even if it doesn't, best case scenario, the middle of your pen will stay nice and lovely, but the corner creases all around the base will get pretty unappealing pretty quickly. It's just a poor design for something like that; it really need to be like a mat wider than the inside of the thing and with one of those tension layers along the edge, so that when you put it in, its shape would press the ends of the mat against the inside of the pen at several inches higher than floor level (and then you put shavings and the water dish etc inside to weight the bottom of the mat into the base of the pen). That would have been a beautiful design; you could then fold up the inside without having anything fall out when cleaning time comes, and just slide the base out to dump and rinse.I love having this, and it will be better than the pool w/ two-layer fence situation I have done in rearing years previously, but it is not well designed in practical use for its intended purpose. Also, I have question about the durability of the fabric--it is not uniform (see photos). The size is good though, and the zippers work well, and the mesh cross-windows are effective.*Occupants in photos are, of course, my children on unboxing rather than my ducklings, but I've reared ducklings before and am confident in my pre-the-new-ducks-living-in-it assessment of this pen.**It does not come with a folding diagram, and it should have done, given its construction.

Setting up the Chick Brooder Box was a breeze. I was somewhat skeptical about it, but I was pleased with it once I got my hands on it and put it to use with our one dozen Plymouth Rock chicks. It is easy to set up, easy to clean, and takes up hardly any space for storage. I added a brooder heating plate I bought at the local farm and ranch store to keep the chicks nice and warm. The brooder provides ample ventilation. Now I’m waiting for the next batch of incubating eggs to hatch. Conclusion: I am completely satisfied with this brooder box and see no reason to give it less than five stars. I recommend it. I hope this review helps. Thanks for reading!

The heat plate does not work at all. Save yourself the headache and dead chicks and buy one that works.

I’m giving the brooder 5 stars but the heat plate 4 it gets up to temp, but only if I put it at 114° I tested it and the aluminum plate it gets up to 95° that way, I think it’s because of the space between the heating element and the aluminum, So this plate definitely heats up differently from others, But My chicks love it and that’s what matters!

This is working out perfectly. More room for my 9 chicks. They love the heat plate more than heat bulb. Even better that it got here fast!
