I bought these borosilicate candle chimneys from Ciieeo with the idea that they would make tea light candles safer, and help them flicker less in breezes. That didn’t quite work as planned.First: these are lovely chimneys. Delicate glass. Minimalistic. Classic. So crisp and clear they sparkle. Both top and bottom edges are well-finished, melted smooth without globs. They were packed carefully in a double-thick corrugated box, with each one rolled up in a long swath of semi-adhering bubble wrap.I had high hopes! I unpacked the chimneys. Took a fresh IKEA tea light (if you aren’t familiar with these, they are very short) and trimmed the wick to ¼ inch. Placed it on a ceramic candle tray and lit it. The flame was steady. I waved my hand over it and the flame wavered, as expected. I placed the chimney over the tea light… and the flame started bobbing around, just a little. Maybe it needed more time to stabilize? I waited. The flame continued to wave left and right. I lifted the chimney up a bit. The flame steadied. Set the chimney down. Slight bobbing again. Well, dang. So: these chimneys are very pretty, very refined looking, A+. They probably work great with slightly taller candles, but unfortunately I don’t think enough air gets to the bottom of the cylinder for tea lights.I should have realized that the lack of draw air for tea lights could be a problem, so I can’t really fault the manufacturer. I just need to get taller candles… or maybe find a way to raise the bottom of the chimney to let more air in.
