The take-up spring on the tension unit of my juki ddl 8300n was mangled so I took a chance and ordered these. I am in no way an industrial sewing machine repair person. I'm actually just a leather bag sewing hobbyist but to my surprise pulling out the old one and putting this in was relatively straightforward. I would have liked at least a few diagrams or hopefully instructions but it was just a plastic bag with two of these in it. At any rate it's wonderful to have my machine working again.

I used this tensioner on my home built Guitar Pickup winder. I used my 3D printer to make a housing for it and it came out great! I needed to keep the tension very low but it worked well at keeping an even tension on the very fine wire used to make pickups (.0023”). I purchased two of these (came that way) so I will be experimenting with reducing the tension spring force.Thinking “outside the box”!
