Carbon dioxide (CO2) is not harmful to human body when it is low, but when it overs a certain amount, it will affect the breathing of humans (and other organisms). The reason is that the concentration of carbonic acid in the blood increases, the acidity increases, and acidosis occurs.

With all the wildfire smoke in the air and air quality warnings lately, this device helps me understand indoor air quality. Opening a window when the air outside is unhealthy can cause your indoor air to get worse. One thing I never realized is that without clean outdoor ventilation the CO2 levels in your home or one room can become unhealthily. This can interfere with sleep and cause headaches. I now check the local weather air quality report and open a window or two whenever the air quality is Fair or better. Device has an alarm when CO2 goes above 1000. Therefore I do not leave on all the time.

I bought this specifically for the PM readings due to the Canadian wildfire smoke. The CO2, temp, and humidity readings seem fine but for 2 entire days the PM readings were at a constant 0, which I knew was wrong. I took this outdoors for a while, as I knew the AQI was in the 40's, and it still remained at 0, while the temp, humidity, and CO2 reading responded accordingly.Through the Amazon website, I wrote to the seller explaining this and asked if there's anything I failed to do or could do to fix this, or if it is just a lemon. No response. I wrote again and sent a photo, again no response.So, back it went for a refund.Both for the unreliability of this product as well as the lack of help and care from the seller, I would definitely steer clear of this product.Edit after this review was posted: The product this review was written about is not the one pictured way above...not sure what this is about.

I was returning one because the temperature reading seemed to be stuck. I got a replacement so I was ablt to do a side by side comparison. The difference in CO2 readings was enough that I do not trust either of them. 714 vs 850.

We bought this because our Ecobee thermostat said we had an air pollution problem. It turned out the Ecobee just needed time to calibrate. That said this device seems to read everything correctly. You charge it up, turn it on when you want a reading and in very large numbers you get what seem to be accurate readings. It does not tell you when the readings are good or bad, you need to know what to expect.

The readings seem accurate enough, and are updating every second.It does beep audibly when CO2 ppm are over 1000 (which is standard, and alarm should go off anything over 1000. Normal room should be under ~700 for good air)Going to return this because for the bedroom use, the bright blue screen (does not have backlight off/on option) is just too bright for nighttime use. Going to try and find another monitor with a dull screen.

I bought this monitor because it was the highest rated by far and I wanted to see how effective recently installed electrostatic unit and MERV-12 filter are in cleaning particulate pollution inside the house. I tested the monitor outside and it matched the smoke-caused PM2.5 level posted by MSN Weather for Boise; the temperature reading was way off for the first 15 minutes, but after I put it inside my bedroom for a few hours the temperature reading finally matched the other indoor thermometer. It also showed over the next few days that while the PM2.5 level outside varied between "good" and "moderate" and "poor" as the smoke passed through the city, the PM2.5 level in my bedroom was always between 9 and 12 ("good"), so I'm happy with the monitor and the MERV-12 filter and the electrostatic generator in my HVAC system. I also noticed that the bedroom CO2 level shot up after I worked out on my rowing machine for 30 minutes, and then returned to normal levels after a short time, not that I was worried about it, but it's another indication that the monitor works. So far, I'm confident of good air quality in my house now as Oregon and California wildfire smoke pollutes the outside air.

Lo compre, como muchos otros, para medir la calidad del aire y ventilación en espacios cerrados y con ello cuidar a la familia vs Covid19.Es muy sencillo de usar, se recarga fácilmente y lo he probado en autos, aviones, restaurantes, salones de juntas, etc. Es muy útil para saber cuándo ventilar el lugar o salir de ahí. Su alarma lo facilita.Es portable dentro de una bolsa de mano, la bolsa de una chamarra, o para traerlo en la mano. No es el más compacto ni se conecta a tu teléfono móvil, pero por este precio, es de las mejores opciones que comparé y valoré.

El medidor de CO2 que compré es bastante útil, rápido y a buen precio. La batería interna se recarga como si fuera un celular (entrada USB micro). Nos gustó tanto que compramos otro más, para traerlo como medidor portátil.

Easy to see and seems to be accurate (i.e., correct reading for outside CO2). My HVAC maintenance guy's box said 1300 ppm CO2 in the house (windows closed). Two days later, after I bought this unit which said 1100. It sounds a little alarm been when level reaches 1000. It correctly measured the outside level. So either something changed in my house over two days, the HVAC guy's unit was giving a too-high reading, or this unit less accurate at higher CO2 levels. I made one change to settings - Celsius to Fahrenheit. It came with a USB cable but I had to to provide the charger.

This unit was my second unit. I bought this one at twice the price and because reviews were favourable, but I immediately doubted the readings. They were too low and erratic. So, I splashed out on the acclaimed and expensive aranet4 which is both reliable and accurate.When you compare the two you will immediately notice how inaccurate the CO2 reading is on this unit. It was indoors where a higher reading than 416 is to be expected, but no, it was over 200 points out. That is significant.If you are searching for a CO2 monitor to use as a proxy for COVID air quality then look elsewhere. In fact, for any purpose, this unit is not accurate. Just don't buy it.

Nice looking, Simple to use, accurate, and easy to read display, the only pick I have is that it doesn't have auto ambient light, it lights up the whole bedroom.
