Learn to weave a more advanced coiled basket!
This kit teaches one-rod, two-rod, and three-rod coiled basketry techniques and many designs.
Prepare to spend some time on this project. It could take more than 8 hours over several days.

With The Coiled Basket Kit - Expanded Version, you can make one 4"-6" coiled basket. Multiple stitches are taught. It's fun and relaxing.
The kit comes packed in a plastic bag that can be used to store materials while you make your basket.
Baskets are woven containers. They are extremely important to human existence because they allow for the storage of food and carrying of resources. Humans worldwide have used native materials to craft baskets to aid in daily tasks and requirements. In addition to utilitarian basketry, decorative basketry is also important for artistic expressions of individuality and spirituality.
Archaeologists and historians have learned much about ancient cultures from basketry fragments which have been found across the globe. Basketry continues on as an important human activity.
Our kits will teach you the following craft skills:
BASKETRY
The four main types of basketry are coiling, plaiting, twining, and wicker. Each type requires different types of materials and has many variations of designs, shapes, sizes, and techniques. Our kits are designed with the beginner in mind. However, we also offer many kits for the more advanced basket maker, who is willing to put in several hours to complete a more elaborate pattern. Many of our kits include design templates so that you can create your own patterns and order supplies from us as needed.
POTTERY
Pottery is also a traditional craft that most cultures that had access to clay performed. Pots were made for practical uses such as food storage and preparation, as well as ceremonial and decorative purposes. Today we still enjoy handmade pottery made by artisans and sold in many galleries across the world. We have developed our pottery kits so that you can complete an air-dried pinch pot and decorate it with as many decorative design options as you like.
OTHER CRAFTS
People are extremely creative and when there is a need for something, it can be made. We have also included several other craft kits such as weaving, ornaments, noise-making instruments, and rock carvings.

It looks like a great gift but the book of instructions did not come with it. I have tried to inform Amazon. So far I have not gotten any reaction. If anyone from Amazon sees this please send the book to the address you said the basket

Found this kit at the Arches National Park Visitors Center. My daughter missed out on buying one there (only one left, and it was gone when we returned) so we were happy to find it online. Its a pretty simple basket making process that you can make more complex by adding the darker colors to make patterns. My 10 year old sticks to one color and needs help to switch to a new piece of raffia, but can otherwise do this completely on her own. Its a neat project that takes (much) more than 30 minutes to complete, which is a huge plus for us.
