My husband just started making his own cold brews, and he didn't think he needed a cold brewer coffee maker. I got it anyway as I wasn't satisfied with the ease of filtering or the quality of straining the grounds out, and this solved the problem. He's now happy to have the maker. It's also a convenient storage container and a review on making cold brew coffee for the newbie.The strainer is amazing, and this would be a five star review if the design of the container matched the design of the strainer. As it is, the container seems a little overcomplicated at at the same time a bit flimsy compared to the strainer. I was dismayed to learn in another review that the container could break in the dishwasher - a mason jar is usually quite sturdy. Now I'm afraid to dishwash it, which is annoying. I concede the breakage could be a one-time occurrence. The lid is a bit awkward design. But with a few tweaks this would be an amazing container and for the price and convenience still worth considering!

When my husband started making cold brew, he used fancy jars with cloth inserts or delicate paper-ish meshes. Very fancy, I'm sure, but I found them too much of a pain to clean or worried about breaking them every time I touched them. This is more my speed. Metal mesh that you can scrub with the included brush. A jar with its own lid that you can fit your whole hand in to clean it. I think I'm just more practical than fancy. Ain't nobody got time for that.

My son is on a cold brew kick so I got this for him to try out. It quite large which is good - he can make several days worth at a time. It is easy to use - just fill the strainer with coffee and fill the mason jar with water. Lid screws on easily - be careful though not to lose the silicon gasket. Emptying the grounds is pretty straight forward and a few knocks on the side of the trash can mostly dislodges everything. We do our best to put very minimal grounds down the sink. He has been satisfied with the results and the price of this combo is very good for what you get.

Perhaps the best part of this set is the really fine mesh strainer that extends to the bottom of the jar. It's perfect for brewing loose leaf tea to serve either hot or cold and shouldn't allow any leaf particles into the tea itself. It and the lid should fit any 1/2 gallon canning jar. The plastic lid feels a little flimsy. Time will tell how it holds up. For now, it works great. I'm more than happy with the set!

Never screwed in properlly. I rarely held it by the handle other than to maneuver it in a part of the fridge. I dropped it once though maybe i forgot to screw it but i am 100% am conscious of screwing it on now and 2nd time i tried the bottom fell out and it shattered into bits...
