ColorTone Touch-Up Markers – The Fastest & Easiest Way to Repair Guitar Finish Dings & Scratches!

Minor dings and scratches on a beloved guitar can be frustrating—but with ColorTone Touch-Up Markers, you can quickly restore your instrument’s finish with ease. No brushing or spraying required! These markers are filled with genuine nitrocellulose lacquer, making them ideal for nearly invisible touch-ups on lacquer-finished guitars.

Professional-Quality Touch-Up with Maximum Precision:

  • Genuine Nitrocellulose Lacquer: The same high-quality lacquer used in professional guitar finishing.
  • Reversible Applicator Tip: One side has a flat surface for broader strokes; flip it around for pin-point application.
  • Quick & Easy Application: No need for brushes or spray guns—simply apply directly to the damaged area.
  • Multiple Color Options: Available in a variety of finishes to match classic and modern guitar colors.

Color Options for Every Finish:

  • Clear Gloss: Perfect for repairing clear finishes, spot-sealing tints, or masking bindings before staining.
  • Aged Clear: Features a subtle tint that blends seamlessly with vintage and aged finishes.
  • Tinted Lacquers: Transparent shades for touching up sunbursts and finishes where wood grain is visible.
  • Blond & TV Yellow: Semi-opaque vintage tones that allow some wood grain to show through.
  • Black: Ideal for quick peghead touch-ups.
  • Sonic Blue: A perfect match for the classic Fender solid color of the same name.

Important Application Tips:

  • Practice Before Applying: Nitrocellulose lacquer melts into itself, which can disturb surrounding finishes. Test on scrap wood before repairing your guitar.
  • Shake & Release Pressure: These pens are under pressure—press the tip in the upright position before use to prevent excessive lacquer flow.
  • Apply in Thin Layers: Build up color gradually for the best blending and adhesion.

Does what it needs to do; just needs multiple coats. Hard for a fill in spot for a chip.

Tried to touch up some chipped finish on the back of the neck and this was useless, only made it look worse. Waste of time and money.

Was curious to see if I'd have to tint this on my '21 Gibson Les Paul Standard (Bourbon Burst with cherry neck/body back). I had a small chip in the nitro on the top of the headstock. This color is dead on. A bit of gloss nitro on top and some wet sanding and polishing and it will be as good as new.

Filled in a chip on my snap-on box. Color very close. Took 3 applications to level to the existing surface but I'm happy

I used this to touch up some spots on my PRS S2 in satin vintage cherry which has a satin nitro finish. The finish maches well in color but is a tad glossier, however if you rub it a bit it blends in well enough to cover small nicks, especially if you look from more than a few feet away. If i were more motivated I could rub it with some steel wool to dull it even more, but as is its fine for me.

I'm not a luthier by any means, but I had a student break their Epiphone LP at the headstock and they asked if I could fix it.Using these paint markers I was able to get a fairly professional looking result. The color was a perfect match and has held up for about 8 months now, even on a spot that gets touched constantly.
