There are only a few differences between these and the other punch mitts I have. One of them is references in the product description: those open fingers. Your fingers can just extend out. I think this design is much better, not only for protecting you from a jammed knuckle, but also just overall comfort. When I uses these, a lot of times I am warm and sweaty, and the open fingers help keep my grip easily, keep my hands dry, and they do make the mitts a bit safer if a surprise sideways shock happens. The other difference is the build quality. These feel very light, and they don't have the same rubbery hide that my other mitts have. The material is thinner and lighter, but they are well sewn together and absorb impact very nicely. I think they will absolutely hold up... they just feel that way. But they aren't heavy like other pads and I think my initial impression was that they were cheap (and they are pretty inexpensive). These are easy to throw on in a couple of seconds and use, making it easy to grab a partner and have some fun. They are a better design than others I've used.

My eight year old is taking Taekwondo, and we are practicing at home for his forms, sparring, kicking and punching. He really struggled looking sharp and getting his punches looking good, and getting his kicks up high enough. When I got these and gave him something to actually hit, he got so much better! It has also added an element of fun to practicing as well. They come as a pair, but they are not left/right hand specific, so the finger/thumb glove on the back are equal, so it can feel strange, but once on, they fit nicely and keep your fingers from being crunched. There is a good amount of padding in the mitts, so even well aimed and executed punches and kicks don't hurt. They are not real leather, but they work beautifully. Yes, they do have a strongish odor when you open the package, but a few days in the open air in our guest room and they are just fine.

Flexible fit. Open finger design makes them cooler to wear and kinder to your fingers. No more jammed knuckles/fingers. They do feel fairly thin, so only time will tell how well they will hold up. Works well for fists or gloves. Lightweight enough that you won't get tired holding them up. Sized right, so they are easy to toss in your bag or in a bin for tidy storage.

I have large hands, but I don't have the biggest hands I've ever seen by any means and yet these do not fit me. I am going to let my eight year-old daughter use them, but I don't think I would recommend these for someone who is serious about the sport. She will be happy to use them to work off some of the energy that eight year-olds have so much of! Pay close attention to the images so that you know you are getting an open-hand glove when you purchase them. That does limit the type of workouts you are able to use them for, but others have said they like the advantages that it gives them.

Really like these. Better than my current set by far. I'm 2/3 of the way towards my black belt in Kempo Karate, so have some experience with this sort of gear.First, they are slightly curved, fitting in to the natural shape of the holder's hand. Second, they have plenty of padding. Third, the finger glove holes on the back seem to have some serious stitching, which should ensure that these hold up for a while. Fourth, the strap across the back is padded, in case you catch an errant or mistimed blow. These appear well made, and seem to be a bargain at the listed price of $28.26 at time of writing. Would comfortably use them with anything short of a professional boxer/MMA fighter; outstanding for working in karate, amateur boxing, and especially teaching young people martial arts or how to defend themselves.

I've used these for a few months now and they're holding up well. The little 'baseball' in the palm offers good support for the hands and they fit well. Happy with the purchase and would buy these again.

They are better than the ones we use at our Krav Maga gym. They are slightly on the smaller side (not as big as some other mitts are), which is not a bad thing. They are big enough to land any shots even with 16oz gloves. There is also an ergonomic protrusion (think like a computer mouse) which makes them comfortable to hold. No strap, but I do not think it's needed. I have average sized hands and they stay on with no issues. $30 well spent.
