Does exactly what I expected. Freedom to move around without being tethered to the device.

Had a panel I could easily access while the machine was running. This allowed me to be online with the PLC and still have all the panels and everything in a safe position.

It's been an excellent device setting up new networking equipment on my phone but it's a headache if I want to pair it to my laptop. It's BLE only - it doesn't want to pair to my laptop so I can open a COM port and initiate a serial terminal connection. The only software I've been able to find so far (that apparently is the official software for this device) is marked on several sources as malware. Multiple sandbox environments report it tries to hide itself and do odd things in the background, so that's not a good sign...

This device only supports more modern BLE (low energy). This means it won't pair to your computer, and it doesn't support Bluetooth Serial Port Profile. I wanted to use with with APRSdroid on a phone, but that app uses Serial Port Profile.I wish I had known that when I ordered, I would have spent a few dollars more to get the bundle with the usb receiver. I was able to get the device working on linux using the python program ble-serial.This won't work on a phone with programs that expect Bluetooth Serial Port Profile. The device itself seems to be of nice quality, the primary reason for 3 stars is because of the software. There is an iOS app, it supports a bare-bones terminal and not much else. You cannot configure the device using the iOS app. There is an android app, but it is NOT in the play store, worse it is not compatible with the current version of android, I had use an old phone to run the software. The terminal in both apps is rudimentary and would be tedious to use on a regular basis. The software is not completely translated in English, some prompts were in Chinese. Sometimes the software crashed.

I'm pretty techy. I've worked in telecom and computers my whole life. This device is not "plug and play" ... the receiver and transmitter do not automatically connect to each other. The very minimal instructions lead to a website that pops up as "unsafe" on a windows computer. Instructions say to install sscom5 13.1. but it doesn't come with the software. Every site I found it was unsafe and blocked. Lastly they have a complex email address nicolelan@szdx-smart.com to email for help and they never reply. This is going back. I'm frustrated by how poor this is.

I do alot of terminal work on network gear. This adapter is simple and responsive once you get the hang of it.This works well with Android (Serial Bluetooth Terminal by Kai Morich). Okay on PC (installed two serial ports - higher one worked for me - putty is very responsive). App for iOS is basic, and did work (search for DX-SMART) but not for what I do. AirTerminal on iOS (appstore, $10) works well.Switched to a stubby antenna (SMA), stock one works great - just wanted one that wouldn’t catch on things in my bag. 6in ethernet for reference in the pictures.Operation (button by the antenna):Pairing pin is: 1234Hold Down - Hold down to turn on/off.One-Click/Quick-Click - disconnect bluetooth.Double-Click - Switches baud-rate. Light will blink X times for each.Rates (blink):(1) - 2400(2) - 4800(3) - 9600 (default, 9600, n, 8, 1)(4) - 19200(5) - 38400(6) - 57600(7) - 115200All in all, great adapter for the price!
