This hitch is fairly easy to install with the rite tools. All the hardware is included in the carton. The paint job is good and it’s very well made. I haven’t had the chance to use it for towing yet, but I can recommend this product because it looks good on the car, and fits perfectly.

Great product. Looks sturdy, nice paint job. Installation is really easy with good instructions. Took me 1h to install. You will need tools to enlarge the factory holes and a torque wrench, but beyond that, everything is provided. I needed help to lift the hitch inbetween the bumper and the exhaust, but that's it.

Perfect fit and great install kit. Fish rope well thought. Installed fairly easily without raising car. Scissor jack useful to raise hitch in place.

Install was relatively easy, fit perfectly on my 2024 Subaru crosstrek convenience no need for leveling square washers. on the rear left side ended up widening the hole closest to the rear to fit the hardware through as the hole closer to the front was difficult to access due to the muffler placement.

First order arrived, but box was in bad shape, hitch receiver was pretty banged up and the parts bag was ripped open and missing a few bolts, a nut and spacers/plates. Returned.Second order never arrived. Was 2 days late, so I assumed lost or damaged in-transit. Canceled the order and ordered another.Third order arrived. Box was again in bad shape, but somehow the receiver was fine and it had all the parts.Installation was easy and less than 1 hr. I used a couple jack stands so I could angle the receiver in and over the exhaust. (There wasn't room with the car on the ground.) Then I used another guy's idea of a ratchet strap to hold it up and level enough to line things up and start threading the nuts. I used a 10" + 6" extensions on a ratchet & torque wrench and had to use a U-joint socket adapter to reach one of the nuts as the exhaust pipe was in the way.Very discreet and seems to hold my bike rack just fine.

Overall great product and high quality! It looks great on my 2021 crosstrek and has been good for basic towing and bike rack work. It also feels heavy duty enough to take anything you can throw at it!As for the install - I did mine without lowering the exhaust or jacking the car up. It’s definitely doable but it is a pain since you’re pretty cramped for space and working the hitch around the exhaust is tricky at first. That being said, if you decide to do it that way make sure you have something to prop the hitch up and support it under the car while you maneuver it into the necessary place. I used a toolbox and that was fine.Otherwise I followed along with the etrailer produced instructional video and it went smoothly. I used a file and ground out what I needed to for the frame - definitely takes some work, but it’s doable if you don’t have a step bit on hand.I will say be careful with ordering any of the used ones off Amazon - the first one I ordered was missing the carriage bolts and two of the rectangular spacer plates. They were able to replace it, but was definitely annoying to have to wait longer. Also, the packages they arrived in were on their last leg - throw a 40lb hitch inside a large cardboard box with minimal padding and you’ll feel bad for the mailman trying to wrangle what’s left of it up the drive. All that being said, take your time on the install, take the steps you’re comfortable taking in lowering the exhaust or jacking the car up, and enjoy the new hitch!

Installed this on my 2021 Crosstrek. Fits perfect as expected. Paint quality is A1, be sure to touch up any spots that may have been damaged during transportation. I suspect most of the people crying it rust didn't touch up the paint. Installation instructions were clear and easy to understand especially with the Curt youtube video. Installation was easy, if you are doing it by yourself, be sure to have a floor jack that you can use to help you hold up the hitch while you bolt it up. Otherwise have 2 people do the job.

Used it to mount my Kuat bike rack. Very solid product. I only need to enlarge one of the holes as the other one can be accessed thru the end behind the bumper.

First, I want to clear up a buyer question above that has a wrong answer. This hitch DOES fit a 2021 Crosstrek Plug-in Electric Hybrid. See pictures of mine above with the hitch installed.Curt makes great products. This is the third Curt hitch I've added to my family's Subarus. If you're handy and comfortable with wrenching, you CAN install it yourself. That said, you will probably spend some time cursing at it. There are four bolts that hold it in, and between the frame and the exhaust system, they are tight to get at. Also, you have to grind away about an eighth inch of sheet metal to get the brackets in. (This is completely normal for a Curt hitch; I've never installed one where I didn't have to grind away metal. The instructions make this clear. I used a Dremel tool with a grinding bit.) Also, you will need a pair of jack stands or a strong helper. The bracket has to be held tight against the frame to get the nuts on the bolts and it is HEAVY and AWKWARD. Also, fishing the bolts through the holes in the frame is aggravating, just take your time and use a good flashlight. Curt supplies special wires to fish the bolts in and they work just fine. But again, it's aggravating because it's tight quarters. If you have access to a vehicle lift, it'll make the installation a lot easier. Even ramps will help. Worst case, jack it up and use a pair of jack stands. Unless you're skinny (I am not) you will have a tough time installing this with the car on the ground. Did I mention that there's a not a lot of extra room?As for the hitch itself, it seems sturdy. I attached both my boat trailer and a bike carrier. Both fit and didn't wobble. Note that when hauling a trailer, the distance sensors in the back bumper will not work. (Duh!) If you rely on the backup camera, it's partially blocked by a loaded bike rack.If you're doing serious trailering, you will probably want to peen over or tack weld the ends of the mounting bolts. The instructions say to inspect them occasionally but I doubt that happens much. I've never pulled a full size trailer with this and probably wouldn't want to. But for dragging the rowboat or some bikes to the beach, it's all good.Highly recommended. I've also ordered the corresponding no-solder trailer light kit from here. I'll review that as well after I install it.
