If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Ford Transit150, Transit250, Transit350 and Transit350 HD (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. You have a picture in mind of your next destination -- maybe it's the boat landing at your favorite fishing spot, maybe it's a campsite that overlooks one of nature's masterpieces, or maybe it's the next big jobsite. However, turning that picture into a reality takes more than just daydreaming. It takes a solid connection and the right amount of power. CURT custom wiring is made with some of the most sophisticated technology in the industry and is designed to install with ease, giving you a long-lasting electrical connection for your towing hitch setup.

Used on a 2022 Ford Transit 350 HD DRW Extended. Kit was good, had to add wire (used 18awg) for connection from drivers to passenger side, and add wire (12awg) for the power connection from back to front. Cut off a tab on the connectors in the tail lights so they would connect as the OEM tab slots were slightly off. Overall good kit for this vehicle.

The positive (20 foot) black wire in the kit that I was required to run underneath the Van from the front Battery connection of my Transit Extended Long van to the back left taillight was a little on the short side, however I was just able to make and complete the connection. However, the black "positive" wire could have been about a foot longer on my 2018 Ford Transit 250 (Extended Long) Van.You will also need a variety of hand tools: Wire cutter, Wire stripper, Wire crimper, Drill, and Drill Bit. In addition, I recommend you purchase (teflon heat shrink "ring connectors"), and double sided teflon connectors to replace the ones that came in the kit. Available at (OReilly's) This will waterproof your 12 Volt electrical connections. I used a Bic lighter to heat these heat shrink connections. If your prepared for the installation it will proceed much easier and faster.

I added a tow hitch system to my 2017 Ford Transit 350. (surprised it didn't come with one from the factory to be honest) I got my quote from Uhaul and the hitch part was reasonably priced ($124 plus $15 labor). However the part of the bid for running the electrical was about ($283) for their end (kit and labor) . I felt this was a gouge so I went looking for the kit to do it myself.I hadn't really ever done car electrical projects before except change light bulbs.I've never swapped a radio, hooked up and speakers, tinkered with other electrical systems, etc - to give you an idea of my limited experience working on cars. However it's as simple as securing an inverter box behind a panel close to your tail light, running a wire through a rubber grommet into both your tail lights, clicking in the adapters to the built in wire harnesses, and running an included wire for 12v power to the battery. The only part of installing the wiring that will be different vehicle to vehicle is the location of the battery. Obviously in the transit van your battery is under the driver's chair, so the natural choice is to run the wire inside. My van is also carpeted so I tucked the power wire along the edges all the way up to the front of the van, being careful not to poke any holes in the wire sheathing. The installation overall is not difficult, just takes time to run that wire to the battery and make it hidden/pretty. I had uhaul test the connection with their plug a week later when my appointment was set for installing the hitch. Everything checked out and transmits beautifully. First try, success. Surprisingly easy, and cheap. Saved me 230 bucks for doing that part myself. In total for the tow hitch system - instead of spending $428, I spent $195 due to doing this part myself.Great product, works, not too tough to install yourself.

The whole process was easy to complete and directions were easy to flow. The last thing that is required is the black box that goes to the battery. That is where the process went really wrong for me. I think maybe I had a faulty box because everything worked well and as directed until the black box was installed. I installed as directed and even used a separate car battery but it would not operate. This product has a lot of great reviews and I am hoping it was just my box that was faulty.

Works good, only problem I had was some of the wires were alittle short for my needs but not really the kit's fault

Great trailer harness, plugs directly into factory lights. Installation is easy, but the instructions are for a cargo van, not a passenger. It is much easier to route into the engine compartment instead of the battery under the driver seat. It would be nice if the power wire was a foot longer for routing it this way, there is not one spare inch of wire.
