Will be using this on my transmission first; there are a few bearings I need to get out and this should do the trick but not so sure about these expanding mandrels over a custom size. If they work, they'll be awesome! Should self-center as well and fit pretty much any size you can throw it at. That in of itself makes this much better than custom sizes. Comes with a short and a long rod and something I really like - a nice CASE for it all so you don't lose parts.

I used this tool to replace the cam bearings on a small block Ford that I am building. The kit is nicely made with thick rubber grommets for each size as well as replacement grommets included. The expander fits nicely into the bearing collet, and once tightened down a bit it sits firmly and squarely in place to the shaft. I used about a 1/4 to a 1/2 a turn of additional tension to hold my bearing to the rubber and metal collet once I set the alignment cone in the front of the engine and inserted the shaft into the cavity between the last 2 bearings. As with this style tool you always start installing the bearings from the back of the engine to the front. After making sure everything was lined up well the oil holes in the right place and the bearing was square to its a bore, I used a dead blow mallet and with just a few light taps the bearing was fully seated. A quick turn of the collet to release the tension and I was on to the next bearing. The tol performed flawlessly for me and worked far better than the older style cup tolli had used before, where the bearing just hangs on by the edge and is prone to becoming unsquare. A great improvement over that old style!. The whole kit comes in a nice blow molded plastic case to keep everything together and safe when not in use. A good addition to my toolbox, that seems like it will last many for builds to come.
