I’m using this mic in conjunction with room eq rew wizard to calibrate my dsp-408, which controls my soundstage and it works great! You can also avoid buying a separate SPL meter by using this mic with the SPL meter in room eq wizard

Why on Earth did I not buy one of these a long time ago? No phantom power special boxes, plug into the computer, launch the audio measure software and you ar golden. I honestly have no way to determine the accuracy of the product. My guess is it's pretty darn good and likely way better than most people require. I general these get used for an RTA to see if you are going deaf or just can't hear, or maybe you drank too much. Either way this simplified in one shot what used to be a real hassle.

Works as advertised, I'm very happy. The accessories are useful, that calibration file was available and can I use it, and the storage case is very good too. Delivery was perfect. The recommended software Room EQ Wizard ([...] - I use the Linux version) is very well documented and works best. Thank you

EDIT: just wanted to clarify, i recently figured out what the problems were. I didnt have the measurement software set up correctly. There are a lot of things that are default that shouldnt have been the default in my measurement. Since then i've managed to get good recordings. Noise floor is a bit high, low frequency measurements might not give you a quite accurate picture (and they shouldnt) but it gets the job done.---------------------------------I am NOT the foremost authority on these types of devices, so take what I write here with caution. Its entirely possible i have far too high of expectations or simply dont understand what I'm doing. I'll just explain my proceedures and you can see what you think.SKYPE/VOIP USAGE:This mic cannot reliably be used for this type of thing. It is a high quality measurement mic, but there is far too much noise. I think this is because it is picking up everything around me, including the noise floor of things like my computer fans, the air conditioning, etc. Stuff that your ears normally filter out as background/white noise are easily picked up by this.Measurement/Calibration usage:I was informed by Dayton that you cannot use this to measure anything below 200hz. I still dont know why this is. I think it has to do with "minimum phase issues". I dont know if they meant "it doesnt measure correctly/accurately/precisely below 200hz" or "it will measure but the measurement will be useless". I am quite sure they meant the latter, as that makes far more sense. In RoomEQWizard, i was picking up TONS of noise in the noise floor, but I think it made no difference once I actually played a tone.Overall, this was a pretty terrible purchase. Not because it doesnt work or anything, but because I dont have any clue what i'm doing and what I expected, and the Room EQ Wizard site would have you believe that you can easily measure everything but once you try, you'll quickly find that every source will tell you a bunch of conflicting information that is incredibly hard to sift through.Overall the mic does what it was designed to do: measure stuff. It does the job well, almost too well. It does not require phantom power, comes with a calibration file, and personally i feel it has some issues with its sensitivity and ease of use. Based on that I'm giving it a 3.0 as an "its OK" rating. I dont get any warm fuzzy feelings from this purchase, and i'm sure that if I knew what I was doing I'd feel a lot better about this mic.
