Float Switch for Boat Bilge Pump
A bilge float switch is a smart device used in boats that turns on a bilge pump when the water in the bilge reaches a certain level. It is a must-have in any boat that is left unattended for any length of time, as all boats tend to leak at least some water. This switch is submerged, so you need to waterproof the electrical connections and hang the wires to ensure they stay as dry as possible.
Caution:
Keep all wire connections above the highest water level. Wires should be sealed with a waterproof marine sealant to prevent wire corrosion.

Do not buy, failed and boat almost sunk. It turned on when in down position and shut off in raised position. Burned out very expensive battery and almost cost me my boat.

I use these pumps for all kinds of things. They are simple cheap 12v pumps that you can easily adapt for all kinds of needs, and they run great. I am on my second one - I previously bought one that was a slightly different design, they all seem quite similar though (previous one lasted a few years and got a lot of use out of it). Definitely worthwhile having a couple of these around for different projects

It pumps water like it is suppose to. At a pretty good rate as well. It has a very cheap feel to it making me concerned about longevity. It is also noisy. But so far it has been holding up alright.

One of the most important things to have working on your boat is a boats bilge pump. This small but powerful pump can handle all the water from a tropical storm that seems to happen very often in south florida. The automatic float switch is a great feature and can be switched from constantly running if you just want to clean out any water from just cleaning the inside of the boat or for emergency when your not around and a pouring rain fills the hull of the boat which would make your boat sink. This feature makes owning a boat less worrisome. Great buy and everything was included to make it a simple install.

Can't beat this price compared to Walmart or any local auto part store. They over price their bilge pumps and they are weaker to include no auto pump feature. This has three wires so it has a ground(-), one positive(+) wire that wired directly to the 12v for the built in float to activate once it rises above parallel to the mounting surface. The second positive(+) wire/remote wire can be hooked up to a switch to tell it to turn on. Say the internal float valve fails which I don't see happening so not exactly necessary. Could just put this one on the floor, wire it to the battery with one 12v positive wire without the remote wire and consider yourself good to go(of course with at least a functions test.) Yet sometimes with a little bit of water in the boat, it won't engage the pump float to turn on if it's to low, so the additional remote power wire helps in that situation.
