I wanted to elevate the experience a bit over the plastic one that came with my De'Longhi Dedica machine. It takes one that is smaller in diameter than some, so options were limited. This one is not spring-loaded or overly fancy, but the weight it good and it does a nice job.

I was a little worried about buying a tamper second-hand, but when I opened it, it was in perfect condition! I could tell the box was worn but there was no sign of wear or use on the actual tamper itself. It fits my portafilter (51 mm) perfectly for my DeLonghi ECP3420 espresso machine and the tamper has a great feel and weight to it. The deep navy blue color is also a very nice touch. If you're someone who is getting into espresso and are on a budget, I would highly recommend buying some of your supplies second-hand, such as this one!

Update: had it for a year now, still perfect and didn’t peel. This is the one to buy, folks!—Got this to use with my new De’Longhi Dedica Deluxe espresso machine. Was a little hesitant to get something I might not need, but it’s totally worth it. It’s heavy enough to tamper the coffee as well as it should, feels good on the hand and the minimalistic design looks great on the counter. Fits perfectly on the original portafilter.I haven’t really “cleaned” it yet so cannot attest to the durability of the coating. I’ve seen pictures of worn ones, but perhaps people mishandled it so I intend to be careful.
