This issue really comes into focus for those with shorter legs. Not wanting to disrupt the attractive lines and appearance of the exhaust, DEI’s Heat Shield Liner Kit insulates the outer heat shield, without disturbing the looks of the bike. Each piece is precision cut to fit in-between the exhaust pipe and the heat shield, blocking heat transfer and lowering the surface temperatures of the outer shield. Easy to install, with no permanent modifications needed. The Heat Shield Liners are dual layer constructed of Aluminum and our proprietary Dura 2000 insulating material and offer over a 60% reduction in heat. Note: Heat Shield Liners install inside the head pipe heat shields. Please pay attention to what brand head pipe you are running not the brand of the mufflers. Well-made product. However, the insulation is stiff, making it hard to conform to the inside curve of the heat shields. Dig deep for the patience to install. Fits well though, once it is in place.

Very disappointed - there is no difference in felt heat with these heat shields installed. They are also a pain to install. I’d send them back but it’s more work to remove them than the refund is worth.

I have a 2012 Harley Street Glide, and I actually wrapped the exhaust with titanium exhaust wrap, then used a DEI product to coat the wrap. After that I used these shields inside the factory heat shields. So now with my Klein temp gun at the shield I’m getting readings of 90 degrees roughly. So much nicer when sitting in stand still traffic I can hardly tell any difference in heat between left or right side of the bike.

Just got these today and jumped right on the install. The tabs that are there to hold the insulation break off really easily so be careful. Another issue I had is it would be nice if there were more tabs and they were a bit longer. As I was making the bends to fit them in the heat shields the insulation would move around more than I liked. I ran the bike for about 15 mins after the install and only noticed a small odor coming from the exhaust area. I'll see how they help with the heat and if no updates they made a nice difference. Wish me luck.
