Deuter is a quality brand and the products have endured through multiple seasons. This pack has some nice attributes, with attachment points for your poles and a lower access zipper to the bottom of the pack. It has side pockets for your phone, knife, snack, or anything else you need quick access to. The side of the pack has a flexible pocket which will fit my Nalgene water bottle. The access to the main part of the pack is from the top and a zipper. I prefer a pack that has larger access when folded down, but this still does the trick for a day trip. The pack is unisex, which means it will a little large for women. I'm 5'3" and typically would wear a medium sized women's pack. This pack is too large, no matter how I try to adjust it. However, it fits my 5'11" husband fine. The pack sits comfortably and did not create any "hot spots" on a day hike we did. I feel the price point is abit high for the attributes - when Deuter does offer others that have better features (or is slightly larger) for a similar price point.

Comfortable shoulder straps with adjustable load lifters.Hip padding is well padded and nice touch to have the side pouches be able to me adjusted with load (Circular velcro patches on the hip pouches).The straps are on the slim end, but still hold well with the buckles.Nice option for the lower half to have a zippered section that you can open/close as needed.The shoulder strap pulls are a bit on the small end and I added some paracord rings for an easier grip.Would have been nice to have a few molle style attachment points to allow strapping additional equipment as needed on the back side.Easy to reach water bottles from the elastic side pockets.Rain cover under the zippered pocket is a nice touch.
