I bought the DWD520K because my ten year old DWD525K disappeared out of my pickup truck at a Job site. The 520K is the same thing except the Handle is at the end and not in the center. These are excellent work horse drills. You cannot run them non stop for hours on end but you can use them for a reasonable length of time before letting them cool for a bit. Kind of like my aging body :)Love the drill and it's perfect for me because I try to avoid the newer self tightening chuck heads. Those work okay for light Jobs but the Chucks fail when the Job is tough.

The drill is very heavy and you have to wear a very heavy glove to hold it as it gets extremely hot when drilling stainless steel. For normal drilling, its fine, but hard to handle. The large trigger is easy to squeeze unexpectedly while trying to handle the drill which always surprises me. You have to want a serious drill and excercise extreme caution when using this drill, but once you master its ergonomics, its a drill for life … recommend for a young man who performs demanding work and can handle it !!

I drilled 20 holes into stucco and solid concrete block, 2-inches deep, with a 7/16 inch drill bit for a hurricane panel. Each took about 30 to 45 seconds. Easy with this drill. It's got all of the features that you might need, including a metal motor housing, an adjustable second handle, 2 speeds (each variable), a hammer on/off setting and a depth rod. The grips are perfect. The drill is heavy and well built. The case is sturdy and well-designed. Remember to wear a mask to protect against concrete dust and eye protection just in case something goes flying.

El producto funciona muy bien, considero que su uso es para un nivel intermedio de trabajo y no creo que sea capaz de funcionar en ambientes rudos.

I purchased this drill to use primarily as a hammer drill. It is, indeed an an attractive unit, and appears to be well built, but that is a deception. After drilling approximately twenty holes for half inch rebar and ten holes for tapered mounting studs the hammer function stopped working. After nearly twenty minutes of drilling with a variety of 1/2” masonry bits it barely penetrated two inches in a concrete slab. The accessory handle is impossible to use in the hammer mode-it vibrates off almost immediately. What you are left with is a very nice looking drill properly suited for drilling wood and softer materials. If you want a real hammer unit, do what I just did-suck it up and order a Bosch.

I have been using the dewalt dwd210g, for a month now, and I love it because of the impressive 980 W power at 5.1 lbs, and its rather remarkable stamina and reliability. I decided to try the 520 because the guts are the same, the motor, speed, heat/overload protection are the same as its sister model 210.The 210 is the same as the 520, with these changes:(1) hammer drill(2) two speeds (400-1200, and 800-3200 rpm)(3) 1 lb heavier(4) 1.7" longer.(5) carrying case included. The 520 shares the same flaw as the 210, that it does NOT do low speed rpm. (400 rpm minimum). Not good for steel. unless you pulse it. Thats why I took off a star. but hey, 10 amps of hammerdrill in a 6 lb package, thats not bad. This is comes with standard adjustable drill chuck and NOT an SDS (spline bit) hammer drill. Any adjustable chuck will tend to loosen on continuous hammering, unless you tighten it correctly. The 520 comes with an oversized t-handle chuck key. Make sure you tighten all three chuck key slots and that should hold any bit in place, including round shanks.

For years I done thing the hard way. A standard power drill and a masonry bit. Only drillig into concrete or bloock on occasion I didn't feel the need to buy a specialized tool just for that. I wish I had... The project I needed to tackle involved quite a bit of drilling into block. And this 10 amp monster ate right thru it! What used to take minutes (lots of minutes) took mere seconds. I was able to drill and mount using tapcons the entirety of all of my gang boxes and ledger boards on my garage revamp in just a couple of hours. And that included a lot of breaks :) I'm extatic with my purchase!!!This drill features a keyed 1/2" chuck. A 360-degree mountable and removeable front pistol grip. Two drilling speed ranges plus the obvious hammer mode. It's a no nonsense tool that for it's size and weight is extremely well built and powerful. The guide is a terrific accessory that gives you precise deapth control. It also includes an extra large chuck key to save your fingers if changing out bits. Personally I think a second drill works better though. All in all, if you have a job that invovles putting holes in concrete, then you need to buy yourself one of these. Hands down then best drill I've ever used!

Great drill - 1200 watts thats power to spare and results in effortless drilling.Variable speed, 2 gears, Hammer Drill function.I did read somewhere that some people had problems with the drill bit slipping because the chuck becomes loose when using the hammer drill function. My response to that is to tighten the chuck with chuck key in each of the 3 holes. I drilled 3 seperate holes each 20mm hole through approx 7 inches of granite using the hammer drill and an irwin joran drill bit, no problems not once did it loosen up.I bought it for use in Australia so being that it's a 110v drill I hooked it up to my 2000w 240V > 110v step down transformer. Australia runs at 50 cycles while the US runs at 60 cycles doing the math I dropped about 60w of power not much of a price to pay with that much raw grunt. Some may find it a bit on the weighty side, but I don't think it is.It's a quality bit of kit, and I'm already looking at a DeWalt cordless for those lighter jobs when I need a cordless screwdriver.Great purchase at half the price I pay in Aus for the same item.
