In high-speed, high-tension trolling applications, hooks can be pulled from striking fish's mouths before a solid hookup can be achieved. The Dipsy Diver Snubber allows a fish to achieve a solid hold of a bait or lure before coming tight and effectively setting the hook. Especially helpful in combination with braided superlines and wire that do not have the inherent stretch offered by nylon monofilament lines.

So it broke, but I was 24feet in 80 feet of water . MAYBE it was a seal. They where around so who knows, but with a iner cord I thought it would hold up but it's the abyss

This is a must behind the dipsy diver. If you don't have this between the diver and the lure when a powerful fish strikes like a King or Steel head it will most likely break the line because the drag on the reel must be tight so the pressure from the diver does not pull line off the reel while trolling.
