The bolt that tightens the lever to the handle bars wouldn’t tighten enough to prevent the handle from spinning around the bars. Then the screws stripped and ruined my bar when I had to pull it off because it wouldn’t loosen. BUYER BEWARE!

I recently replaced the brake levers on my child's bike with these, and the difference has been remarkable. Fixed a kids bike. The cable for the rear does not have a split in it like the one on the bike but I could reuse my old one.The brakes fit for the bike we had and gave more life back to it.

I purchased this brake set to replace the existing cantilever brakes on my Trek 820. These brakes have significantly more mechanical advantage than the old ones, requiring only light action on the levers for solid stopping power.Having said that, for the very low price it was mandatory to cut costs somewhere. I found the levers to be poorly made. One of the levers partially disassembled during my first ride because the lever pivot hardware fell out. On the other lever, the mounting bolt stripped while I was securing it to the handlebar. I highly recommend using better hardware on these levers to make them stronger. I reused the hardware from my old levers and the new levers are working great.

The old brake handle was broken so I replaced with this handle and it was perfect for fit and finish and appears to be just as good or better than the original. Can't say anything about durability yet but it looks to be a very well made piece.

My 5 year old asked me for a bike with gears. There weren't many options. I picked a CCM garbage heap (with a nice paint job) from Canadian Tire. It needed a tune-up as soon as I brought it home. Anyway, within a week of owning it, my daughter fell and the stock brake handle snapped right off and just dangled there. Why? Because some dimwitted cost-saver used a PLASTIC part! Plastic!So I ordered this. It's made of metal. The parts (screws, etc) are higher quality than the garbage on the CCM bike. I changed the broken one out, and now my daughter wants the second metal one on the other side because, in her words, the handle works better AND she doesn't want the other one to break if she falls. Seems fair.Takes some DIY to get this thing on - the hardest part is usually going to be removing the handle bar covers. Tip - YouTube this! It's not as hard to remove as it seems, but it takes some work. However, this part is as easy to install as any brake lever.

I don't think you can find anything better for the price. Nice looking and easy to install metal levers. Note that it's a kid size, not sure if it's mentioned anywhere in the product description

Good, works just as it should and my daughter hasn't broken any of them like the plastic ones that came with her bicycle. She can now stop safely and they are very strong
