We are not able to use this pulley. Several reviews said it would work to replace an unneeded air conditioner compressor and maintain the route of the serpentine belt on our 2003 VW Beetle. But a cheap bearing allowed the pulley to wobble and run the belt off. We had to find another solution. Unfortunately, we couldn't get time to complete the effort before the return date expired. Normally, Dorman parts are okay. This one wasn't.

Doesn't line up correctly. Belt constantly falls off or shreds itself. I've messed with this thing for hours trying to get it working. It's just won't. At idle it's fine but once you put some torque to it, it doesn't hold up.

Installed on my 2004 VW Beetle 2.0 single OHC. Will need to replace bolts with M10 150x120mm 10.9 class bolts/nuts and lock washer or blue Loctite. Pulley is slightly wider, but lined up perfectly. Item works perfectly, very happy. Cheaper than replacing compressor. Ordered and received next day. Very happy with this product.

I wasn’t sure the hardware from the a/c compressor would fit on the bypass pulley. After removing compressor I had to go to the hardware store and buy nuts and bolts long enough with lock washer.

Kind of a pian to install. The bearings are not the greatest, we'll see how long they last.

it sets a little cock-eyed and it didn't come with any hardware because you can't use the factory bolts because they are not long enough and they don't have nuts anyways so I had to go to the hardware store and get the closest ones I could find to install it with.

People said it will work on an ALH Tdi. Which is not tottaly true yes it bolts in however, the serpentine belt alignment will be off because the pulley does not stick out far enough causing noise and your belt will pop off. Not worth it

I purchased this for an aging 1998 Jetta Wolfsburg that was not worth the trouble of a costly new AC compressor. The clutch had failed and bearing froze up. The Dorman is a strong robust build with a plastic pulley and sealed bearing similar to the serpentine belt tensioner. From reading other reviews I was anticipating a possible alignment issue and additional hardware. The unit does not ship with hardware and the bolts which secure the AC compressor are not long enough to adapt to the bypass unit. I was able to purchase two heavy duty metric bolts with nuts and washers at a local hardware store, and due to the length, ended up mounting one bolt in the opposite direction. The bypass pulley aligned perfectly, and the new hardware was clear from getting in the way of belts. Serpentine belt went back on over the pulley perfectly and car runs great. Difficulty of installation was mostly removing the alternator (it was tight on it's mount) and there is the the hassle of recapturing the R134 into a storage container since it can not be released into the atmosphere. A local auto tech can do it cheaply. Once the compressor is discharged it is merely two bolts holding it on, and an 8mm hex head holding the AC lines. Took less then 1 hour.

Perfect fit, pulley was just a little offset but pulled the bolt and added one washer to the back side to move it out now it lines up perfect.
