Nice quality I always like Dorman products but can't believe they didn't send bolts with it. Can't figure out customer service but broken bolts should be expected on a 21 year old truck

Easy install, good bang for the buck.Doesn’t come with new bolts, so be nice to your old ones. If you want to tighten up your steering , gor $95, this makes it feel like new

Perfect. Exact fit and installed easily. Would prefer if new bolts were included as I had to source replacements. I knew this before ordering so no complaint, just an observation...

Shaft was an easy and perfect fit for my 02 Dakota SXT 3.9 4x4. Sprayed penetrating oil on a few days before replacing shaft. New shaft was a perfect fit. Old bolts worked fine but were longer then needed. Complete job took less than 45 minutes, tightened down without modifying. Not sure why some of the reviews were so negitive.

Vehicle is a 2003 Dodge Durango Sport 4WDPerfect Fit but wore out after a few years. Warranty replacement was issued and was free!Originally purchased this replacement on December 25, 2014. It was installed immediately with new bolts from hardware store. As old bolts had snapped. The whole job took about 30 minutes with no rushing. Its very important you do NOT let your steering wheel spin while its not connected. Or you will have to replace the Airbag clockspring in the steering wheel. The part is over $100 alone. The job is easy though took me about 30 minutes to change that. (I had problems with airbag light going on and off during turning prior to the steering shaft replacement...or atleast I tell myself that)So by January of 2018 the dreaded binding and clunking was back! I didn't bother much with it as I thought I had to buy another. After I looked a bit further in June I found Dorman provides LIFETIME WARRANTY on these parts. I contacted amazon who gave me a contact to reach out to for Amazon Dorman replacements. After a few days a replacement order was placed for free and return label for old one was provided. When I took the old dorman one off I found the ujoint on the rack side was shot causing it to pop and have play again. The new one was good to go and was an easy replacement. You can see the pictures attached of the old Dorman and the new one. Same parts just time and some salt that made the difference! In summary this is a great replacement to OEM. Its cheap, solved the popping , binding, and play in the steering wheel. It drives like new again! It may only last a few years depending on the abuse it goes through (salt and dirt since its essentially unprotected). Even if you have problems Dorman has your back and will assist in a replacement free of charge.

Installed on my 01 Durango due to the steering wheel intermittently binding mid-turn. I'm familiar with the many Chevy trucks known for this so I immediately recognized the binding issue. $50 later, I'm no longer steering into everything I can lay eyes on, which is quite nice. Could be caused by rust build-up, lack of grease, loss of grease, road grime, etc. These things are made of simple U-joints, like a driveshaft but rotating far less frequently as well as operating at a much sharper angle. Often enough, at least on American pick-ups and SUVs, it's only a matter of time before they start acting up. If your Dodge (or any other brand, honestly) truck is having this problem and you see no obvious culprit, try the steering shaft first! Perfect fit, perfect price, perfect fix. Two thumbs up, and 3 cheers for Dorman Products. Can't beat their price-to-quality.

This review is for the Dorman 425-257 Steering Shaft.I was lucky and my old bolts did not break when I removed them. I was able to use them again on the new shaft. I don't know why bolts are not shipped with the shaft?? I put this shaft on my 2001 durango, it took about 45 minutes only because it took a little longer to get the top bolt out. Be sure to tie your steering wheel in place. I used a bungee cord to hold mine so it wouldn't turn while the steering shaft was off. Very easy to install. No more clicking noise while turning. Very sturdy. The old bolts will hang out a little further unless you cut them down but mine did not hit anything or come near anything while turning the wheel. I did Not cut mine. The old shaft is aluminum and a little thicker to compensate for the softer metal. The new shaft is steel and doesn't have to be as thick so that is why the bolts stick out more. I recommend this Dorman steering shaft if you are hearing/feeling noises in your steering or if it feels sloppy. Highly recommended!

My steering was so sloppy, it drives like new now! It was a horrible experience getting the old one out as one of the bolts snapped off. But the new one fits like a glove. The design is slightly different but it fits right and works correctly. The OEM part has Aluminum clamp and the new one is steel. So if you can get it to clamp down super tight like some have mentioned, it's ok, the bolt also acts as a locking pin. If your still concerned, use some blue thread locker on the bolt.

I agree with the other reviewer, the bolt threads needed to be drilled out before this would have worked. It looked like a good part besides that. FYI this part is for 4WD, not for the 2WD. It's about 1 inch to short for the 2WD. Make sure you have all of the settings saved in amazon for your vehicle or it will say it fits when it really doesn't.
