I've bought this exact same Dorman 749-602 part three times to fix the passenger side window of my 2004 Mini Cooper S R53 since I acquired the car in 2019. The failure mode is always the same: the hub that the drive wire spools on to becomes misaligned with the motor housing and sprocket and TWANG it either snaps or gets snarled up inside the housing. What isn't stated about this part is that you MUST remove the drive motor from the existing housing and re-use the screws from the old unit to mount it to the new regulator. Also, the last two units I received from Amazon have had a reversed motor polarity requiring me to clip the harness wires and put in a terminal block to swap the polarity so "up" goes up and "down" goes down from the window controller. Cheap junk, but unfortunately the ONLY option since you can't even find original BMW/MINI units anymore. If it was possible to just lock the window glass in place and go without the regulator part I'd do it, but the MINI design actuates the glass down/up about 2cm each time you open and close the door to clear the door frame and seal the window. This probably looked cool on the dealer lot but as the car has aged this has become a recurring point of failure and frustration. I don't even use the passenger side window at all anymore because I can't trust this part to not randomly fail when I'm out in the world.Tips for Installation (since you'll probably do this more than once)1. Save all your removed hardware, you're going to need it.2. There is a "hidden" 10mm bolt behind the door latch; you'll have to remove the latch to get to it, then it's behind a blank seal.3. Test your regulator after installing and before re-installing the window glass to confirm that the polarity is "correct" since I've had 2 units how where the polarity of the wiring harness arrived reversed from the factory.

Visibly lower than OEM quality in a couple places, but it installed easily and after aligning the window, it works quite well. None of the crunching/popping issues like the ultra cheap one I tried before, and it's only slightly slower up and down than the OEM was. Overall, for the cost, this unit seems to be worth it. Time will tell if it holds up.

Install went smoothly and my window's working again. This was for the passenger side on my 02 Cooper S.Just note the orientation of your motor when uninstalling.I reused my factory torx retaining screw rather than the included Phillips, but other than that, no issues.
