I am building a log cabin and needed scribes for the project. These scribes work well and are about 1/2 the price of other log cabin scribes. The instructions are not in english but you tube has detailed instructiions for the use of log cabin scribes.

So it worked great when I had a gap large enough to use it, and is consistent with the ones folks used in the videos. I had issues because I was planning to use for a small kid's house made from small logs, and since they were machined (all cut to the same size) I pre-notched them down to around 1" - this tool just doesn't get that close together and the corners were really tight. Pencil wasn't great.

Don't worry about the origin, this is quality. I actually scribe and shape logs. If you need instructions, go to wiki or youtube, or just practice!! You can buy the pricey scribers, this one is perfect. Smooth action, solid and heavy. Concise. Save some money and enjoy, this tool is fully adjustable and durable. This is a scribe for more than logs, but I use it for logs..Ask a question. You can spend 3 fold and get less. There is no fancy plastic case, just a quality tool. Thanks, Log scriber!!

This product was advertised as coming with an extra pencil..well..it didn't come with a pencil at all.

I like the product. Unfortunately, the instructions are exclusively in Japanese. I do not speak or read Japanese. I think I have figured out how to use this instrument, but some instructions in English would be very much appreciated.
