Purchased the 36" dowel rod for a project, however approx. 14" of the dowel was unusable because the rod did not have a consistent round shape. That portion of the dowel rod had a flat damaged area along the shaft making it worthless for what I what I had intended. Would not recommend for anyone expecting to quality wood.

Though it is cherry, the piece that I received was almost solid white. The only evidence that it was cherry was a small sliver of reddish color. The rest was just white sapwood. It basically looks like a poplar dowel.

Was looking for special wood dowel and this was a very convenient find at a very good price - the dowel is on even wood, very smooth so a very good value - I use it as 'pastry rolling pin' to make very thin dough sheets so quality of wood and how it was cut is very important -

Dowels are good. Remember, it's cherry. Color varies based on cut and age.
