EXACTLY AS ADVERTISED. 50/110 gauge - Nice heavy strings with a great feel - and when you drop tune they definitely lock in. Dropping from E down to C# tuning with no issues - still tonal with good playability. Sabbath, QOTSA, VH -- let's go! And then you go right back up to E tuning or Drop D and it locks right back in there too. My previous 45/105 set (not DR) didn't do this very well. I like the heavy stings even tuned to E - great tone - and I no longer sweat making a tuning change in the middle of a set. These are really good strings and absolutely worth the small premium you pay for DR.

I have been playing for over 10 years. I have tried countless strings and not all work well with my Seymour Duncan quarter pounder pickups. These pickups are so massive that the strings sounded loudly bad through them. Still, I need that volume to cut through the live band mix. I tried these out and all my troubles are gone. They even sound great on non setup, bent bass necks. All the fret buzz is gone and it does not make it through to the amp. Additionally, not only do they sound great in Drop D or D Flat. They went down to drop C with no trouble at all.
