These are the best strings, have been playing bass with them for 50 years. I ordered 3 boxes of 40s and received 2 boxes of 40s and 1 box of 45. That's on Amazon, not Ball. The 45s will be used on practice bass.

Recieved an open pack (both seals broken) and box was worn and old looking. So, I returned and ordered a second set. This box is also opened and shabby looking. It's worth noting that both packs had inside sleeves were a different color from the other. Are these even the strings I ordered? If it's unsealed, there's no way to know. Not impressed.

Might be my fault, did not find that they have stayed in tune well. Possibly just haven't played them and retuned them enough - yet.Pros:- affordable price- easy to string up (long neck Dean EABC electro-acoustic bass)- Nice sound (part strings, part bass)- Color coding definitelt helps get the right string in the right place.Cons:- Other than not staying in tune right away, none. Most likely lack of practicing on my part...

The round core Hi-beams were a little too floppy for me, these hex core Lo-riders are very fast and precise and the sustain is impressive. Very bright and don’t dull out fast. Probably about 3 months of “new string tone” and then even afterwards still sound great. I pull and pop very aggressively and have never busted a string. They are strong.

These strings sound and play well. The only thing that is a bit frustrating is that the b string is not tappered so it does not fit on my warwick very well (which is really more of a warwick issue.) So if you have a warwick I would skip them unless you don't mine filing down your nut a bit to fit the string.

I like "low action" so that i dont have to play as hard to get good sound. Many other strings i have tried are just not stiff enough to keep low action along with "light gauge" strings. DR solves that with these Lo-Riders!! I get even, consistent tone across all 5 strings!! No loss of bottom end with the .120 and .100!!

I have a standard 37" long scale bass and theses strings are way too long. You'll have to wrap 1" of the string past the lead around the tuning peg. DR rep told me their strings are for 39" scale basses. I wish they would have put that bit of info on the packaging! Since the B-string is impossible to string because of its thickness these strings are unusable
