Your cart is empty.Drill America Cobalt Aircraft Extension Drills are similar to high-speed steel, but with more cobalt for improved performance when cutting harder metals such as stainless steel or nickel alloys. Gold oxide is a thinner oxide surface treatment than black oxide typically used to identify cobalt steel tools; performance is similar to uncoated tools. Drill America Aircraft Extension Drills are manufactured to National Aerospace Standard 907. The 135° split point is self-centering and reduces thrust. Sizes smaller than 1/16 in. have the 118° standard point. Drill America Aircraft Extension Drills are available in 6 in. and 12 in. overall lengths when extra reach is required.

I use these for attaching hidden fasteners to Insulated Metal Panel walls. (5" thick insulated panels that attach with long bolts to a steel building skeleton.) You can get multiple jobs done with the same bit if you know how to drill steel without using any lubricant. It cuts like butter and lasts a very long time. Makes the job much less frustrating as it stays sharp for quite some time

I got this great long drill bit to drill horizontal holes in 4"x4" cedar posts. The bit works great is long enough to drill through a 4"x4" cedar posts. It works great.

I needed to drill a broken bolt in the catalytic converter on my car. It was in a difficult spot so I had to use a long drill bit. This was perfect for two bolts that I had to drill. The bit still looks like new. The bolts I drilled were not hardened steel.

I bought this for a specific project so I factored the price of the drill into the cost of the repair. It's nicely finished, plenty sharp for drilling wood, well packaged in a re-useable case that'll help keep it sharp rattling around in my tool chest, and fairly priced. Most important for my needs, after sharpness, was stiffness, and this drill didn't bend at all. Can't speak to its longevity but it's a good product for my needs.

I special ordered these to install down spouts for a gutter system. These things went through 2 layers of stamped 22 GA steel and went through 1/2 plate steel. I used them to drill pilot holes for grade 3 Stainless steel tech screws. The screws kept burning out these bits saved the day!
