Bought this to drill a very precise hole through a 1/2" of aluminum using a brand new drill press. Took VERY long to make the cut, the bit got hot very quickly even with plenty of cutting fluid, and the hole it cut was very ragged and not very clean.I used 3 other drill bits of various sizes in this project and they all cut clean, quick, and did not generate anywhere near the amount of heat this bit did. If i had to guess, I'd say it was the cut of the tip of the bit did not bite well enough to slide the metal quick and clean. Maybe this would be different in another metal, but if you need this for aluminum, i'd look for something better.
