My son wanted a fancy video graphics card for his PC. While the card fit into the PC nicely it required a six pin power connection, and the PC didn't have any such cable connector. With this adapter cable I just connected one end onto a spare SATA cable connector and plugged the other end into the six pin port on the graphics card. Everything came up properly and worked. I was very glad to have found this cable adapter because otherwise I would have had to replace the whole power supply in my son's PC to get the power connection the graphics card required. This saved me!

In my opinion, a cable like this shouldn't be used on graphics cards with a TDP higher than 135ish. A 1660 super should be the upper limit, otherwise youll get into sketchy territory. If you know what you're doing, this adapter is a godsend for optiplex and similar builds with proprietary PSUs. You should always do your research (googling) before you use these, but they're nowhere near as dangerous as some people loudly espouse.

If you have a power supply that does not have the correct power cable for your video card, this cable is a nice solution for you. Cheaper than replacing the entire power supply especially if you are working on something proprietary that makes changing the power supply difficult.

Viable solution to power my new GPU with an available power adapter. Cord was long enough for multiple routing within the case.

This did the job. Just be careful about your power supply. You'll need to calculate your power budget for all the devices you have in your PC to be sure your P/S has enough wattage to provide the additional current to the GPU (make sure you look up the power draw from the mfg. of the card) you're adding otherwise you'll have glitches, at best and worst case start a fire. Give yourself some overhead in your budget.
