For a small price you can live your M1 for a few lifetimes. Good adhesion to parts and excellent lubrication. I’m sure there are more modern ones with fancier ingredients, but this stuff works. If it’s not broke don’t fix it.

This is the product the Army and CMP recommends for greasing your M1 rifle. It’s also good for any other firearm. Remember the Army advice: if it rolls oil it, if it slides grease it. I find the only exception to this is the M1 bolt roller. You should grease it like packing a wheel bearing.

If you are a mechanic or firearms owner, you should always make it a point to know your greases and lubes. Not all are made equal and some are better than others. In some cases a light oil or grease is fine while in some others a thicker grease. 1911 and 1911A1 owners know a light coat of oil or a very light grease is best. Thicker greases can cause problems if you go overboard; same goes for AR-15 and other firearms. Lubriplate came recommended from the CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) instructors and armorer and master gunsmiths. This is best for the M1 Carbine, M14/m21 and M1 Garands.Unless you are taking care of an arsenal, one 16oz tub should be sufficient. Just like your car, read the manuals recommended maintenance steps. At least if something goes wrong, you can cite the manufacturer.
