Founded in 1939, Duralex has been manufacturing tempered glassware and tabletop products for over 80 years in La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin in the very heart of France. Since 1939, when Duralex invented the glass tempering process, the name Duralex has been associated with toughened glassware, utilizing their proprietary process. With the help of continuous investments and commitment to quality, Duralex has reached a level of excellence that makes its products recognized throughout the world. Duralex is and will always remain a true French manufacturer of glassware and tabletop products, and is the only glass manufacturer that makes 100% of their products in France. Named after the Lys River which traverses through France and Belgium, the Lys Dinnerware collection by Duralex, is symbolic of what this wonderful tributary used to represent to some of France's most famed artists: clarity, simplicity, utility, and of course, beauty. Extremely durable tempered glass - impact and chip resistant - dishwasher and microwave safe. Made in France.

I love these plates because they are lead free and made in France. The packaging however was terrible. All six plates were placed together with nothin between them. There was some bubble wrap on the outside around them as a set. I can understand why one of the negatives in the past reviews is that one arrived broken since they were placed all together. I do however love the plates. They are deep so I can use them as a bowl as well for most things. I am glad I purchased but I hope they improve the packing.

Surprised the wife with glass bowls like her parents have. Same size. Fantastic purchase. Very durable. Love them.

We purchased these to supplement very similar dishes that have performed superbly for years, and which are physically identical to these. We now believe our original tempered glass bowls are in fact well made knock-offs of these (they don't bear the name). We had been looking for months for identical replacements as they have been unquestionably the most generally useful dish we have ever owned (and I am an octogenarian). Extremely durable, easy to clean, and tremendously adaptable.

These bowls are replacements for some vintage Arcoroc France bowls we had that are now unavailable if you want the glass made in France, and not China. The Duralex bowls are a thicker, sturdier replacement, very similar shape, high quality,The ONLY downside is that the Company name and "Made in France" lettering are molded on the INTERIOR base of the bowl, so that will inevitably be scraped (chipped? hopefully not) by utensils. This is poor design. if it couldn't be molded in the exterior base, perhaps the outer lower side wall would be a better choice for usability. Time will tell.

Great size. Very durable. Elegant and practical. I love this brand. I use for salads, poke bowls, main dishes with sauces, pasta. If you are deciding between bowls and plates, and must choose one or the other, choose these instead!

The quality is good. The product I received is much different from what is in the picture. The picture shows a bowl but I received plates. Please do put up a real photo of the product.

Foremost for me is that it is made in France and not China. I can be sure there is nothing in it that will come into contact with food that is harmful. Duralex is sturdy and good looking. We have these bowls and different Duralex glasses. Great for serving bowls or soup bowls. We use these every day. Dishwasher safe. Duralex is durable but like any glass can break, especially if dropped on tile or granite. Love these!

This plate goes well with many types of food; especially, for salad, desserts and fruits. It’s durable that I could put it into dishwasher, so I often use it for daily meal plating at home.

We have a vintage set of these bowls. As others have mentioned, they also have the raised words inside. Some are worried the words will chip off and they will eat them. This has never happened with our vintage set, so I wouldn’t be concerned about that. We purchased a new set to have extra, and they seem to be of the same quality, just a little different style. Our daughter loves these bowls because she likes to keep her foods separated. Perfect for a chicken breast or a side of macaroni. I have never microwaved the bowls, but they survive the dishwasher fine. They do scratch if you use knife in them. I like that they are lightweight too! I added a side by side of old vs. new!

My original set of these from 25 years ago are still going strong ... no chips, and not a single one has cracked. We routinely use these in the microwave, so reviews that say they crack in the microwave are puzzling to me.The only reason I purchased another 12 of these, is because over the years they have become etched and scratched from knife use and dishwasher washings. I have not discarded them. In fact, my husband and I use them for our daily meals, but now have a new second set to use when friends stop by for an impromptu meal. The size and shape of these bowls are so versatile, they are by far, the dishes we use most everyday. They are almost like dinner plates with rims to prevent sloshing and spills.Dinner sized salads can be tossed and eaten without spilling over the sides, works great for a stew or curry, and anything with a gravy or sauce. . . especially for casual dining away from the dining table, ie on the sofa holding this bowl in your lap. This is also my dish of choice to use whenever a recipe that says to brown something in the pan, then set aside. I put my cooked proteins in this bowl and it easily holds all the juices that come out while the protein rests. As a side note, they are space saving and nest and stack well in the cabinet and also in the dishwasher.

These shallow bowls are perfect....glad I got the 8 inch size. They can be used for salad, pasta, just about anything. I got them for Christmas entertaining to use as salad bowls. They look excellent atop my dinner plates for a first course. And the labels were extremely easy to remove. They are very sturdy but not too thick so that they stack well for storage.
