WiFi adapter for the Cambridge Audio 851N. Worked great for 3 months. Now it won't connect on start up. Restart the unit and it's fine until the next day. Even tried a different channel. This is the second failure in 2 years!!!!

This is the best thing to add to an original RPi that only has 2 USB2 ports without any wireless support, or really any older laptop computer with limited USB ports. It also functions in really old computers with USB1 ports, with much slower speeds.Pros:+ bluetooth AND WiFi n+ compact size+ simple USB+ driver support for many older operating systems+ automatic driver install in Win10/11+ rtl8xxxu support in linuxCons/improvements:- linux support is flaky with older versions- bluetooth limited to 4.0- no 5GHz band WiFi support- no bluetooth support in MacNote: Rasbian/RPiOS (maybe all linux?) requires removing the blacklist on the rtl8xxxx driver in order to work:echo "" > /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-rtl8xxxu.conf && reboot

Windows 10 will use this baby to broadcast a wifi direct signal or bluetooth so that a Call phone with a VOIP account can make phone calls on wifi for free. The only problem Ive found with this system is that places which wish to send automated account proof messages can not use the VOIP system to get you the code. So although Wifi works as a free phone system, account verifications are apparently still not doable. This dongle has preformed very well as a way to broadcast to my ear plugs via bluetooth also. Although windows has its fair share of setup and connection inabilities in this area and I have had to switch it on and off via device manager to fix it sometimes.

Look, for under $15 bucks shipped and near 100% compatibility with Windows and Linux versions, this is an excellent value even though range isn't the best. But, that is natural since there is no large external antenna.I will definitely rare this 5 out of 5. I work in IT and have used more than 100 of these over the last few years. Not a single failure yet. I would absolutely recommend these to someone who isn't expecting the world for $15 as an excellent, quick and easy way to add WiFi and Bluetooth to a laptop or desktop. I use drivers from the chipset manufacturer, Realtek.

Works perfectly after you donload the proper drivers. If I recall correctly, My computer tried to assign some generic drivers to it and it didn't work well. but once you follow the instructions it works perfectly. I can't speak much for the WiFi functionality but the bluetooth is seramless and does not lag or skip

Currently using this when the wifi card of my Surface Pro 3 broke. At first, I was skeptical, but it has actually worked fairly well. The Internet speed is acceptable (rarely any buffering when watching videos on YouTube or Netflix) and the Bluetooth connection is solid as well. Connecting to wifi is sometimes slow/doesn't connect to networks automatically, but this is a relatively minor issue for me. It also gets a little hot after a few hours, but I haven't noticed that this has affected its performance. The installation was a bit tedious, but I would recommend looking at the top comment for this device by Michael Ronayne for guidance. After following his instructions, I was able to install the device with no issues. I have had this device since April 2017 and so far (fingers crossed), this device is still working smoothly. Given the small form factor and usability, I would recommend this if you are having any wifi/bluetooth issue.

Realmente es un accesorio que vale mucho la pena , funciona excelente aunque no tiene un gran alcance en cuanto al wifi pero nada que afecte su uso en casa

I purchased this item for use with a Dell OptiPlex 745 running Windows 10. It took several steps to get it to work, however. The drivers that are included on the mini-cd that ships with the product DO NOT have Windows 10 drivers included. You must go to the edimax website and download the drivers for Windows 10. What's initially frustrating is that the 7611ULB IS NOT listed in the compatible Windows 10 hardware list on edimax's site. Only after I went searching on their downloads page did I find that version 1.0.0.3 of their software supports Windows 10.What made the installation even more complicated was that I had to run their setup application at least three times, rebooting after each failed install, until the adapter finally lit up with the blue light indicating it had power. Connecting then to my wireless router was routine and has been reliable. The bluetooth it offers is really nice and I was using it to transfer files to and from my cell phone. I also was playing the Google Play app on my phone and listening to it through the edimax adapter on my PC's speakers. I can also control the Play app tracks with the software on the PC. I also connected a Dell wireless keyboard with this adapter to my PC.The connection rate I get to my router is about 72, not the 150 the adapter suggested. I am about 35 feet from my wireless router and I have the adapter in a front USB port as suggested by edimax for better connectivity.Having nothing else to compare to, this adapter seems reliable and has been operating without any problems for the few days I have owned it. The price is decent in my opinion and so far my only complaint is that using it with Windows 10 was initially tough to get working.
