I've been using these with my jewelry forge and they're good. There's not really much to say about them - they hold hot things so that my fingers don't have to. They're pretty light weight and definitely aren't meant for heavy duty usage, but if you have some smaller, more fiddley hot things you need to move around, these are much better than burning up your fingers.

Cork seems like it will fall off soon. Other than that they're pretty sturdy and do what they need to.

Just what I needed for those hot beakers.

Great product and a great price. The product is capable of holding large up to 500 ml and possibly larger and also small 15 ml beakers with no problems controlling the beakers. The tongs are long enough to allow you to work over hot surfaces without exposing yourself to the heat. The tongs are sturdy and well built.

After buying a pair of "SEOH Beaker Tongs 1/4 Thick" and playing with them, I knew that I also needed to order these "Eisco Labs Safety Flask/Beaker Tongs." They first struck me as a bit larger and heavier than I had imagined. They are almost exactly 12" long, and weighed 179.74g. I come from a medical background where really professional workmanship is almost the standard rule. The tongs work fine, with two notable weak areas, one of which may never develop into a problem. The rivet that enables each half to join near the center, if mishandled by forcing one half up or down the z-axis with respect to the other half, could loosen the rivet and permanently force the tongs out of planar flatness. Such abuse would stop the diamond-shaped gripping area out of its out-of-the-box flushness, resulting in the tongs making poor grabs of, say, the neck of an erlenmeyer flask thereafter. If treated well I expect the tongs will return the favor. The greater weak area is the CORK INNER LINER that provides insulation against a hot flask, and also a level of friction, since the smooth metal without the cork lining would be much more slippery when grabbing something. Upon arrival, my cork liner was glued slightly off the edge of one side, requiring me to pick off, very carefully, the bit of cork that was hanging out from its metal under-plating. I also anticipated that over time the cork might peel off in bits due to the wear & tear of use. So I took 2 1" x 4" strips of Scotch Transparent Tape and, using 2 strips for each half (one for the upper diamond and one for the lower diamond, and rolled the tape around all 4 attachment areas smoothly and completely, so that no bit of cork is now allowed to detach, exposing the slick metal underneath). If the tape reacts poorly to hot glass, then this "fix" will stop working in my favor. For now, however, all feels well. time will unfold the rest. Happy I bought them, though they seem about $3 overpriced.

These tongs appear to be excellent for handling fairly small items, but I've discovered they can , indeed pick up a custard bowl without any instability, at all. You do need to be sure to use a bowl that has fairly vertical walls for best grip.I'm legally blind, and have difficulty safely judging depth, and distances when placing, and removing small, and hot items from the close quarter confines of a toaster oven, especially with oven mitts. These really help solve that little safety problem.I like how long the handles are. My only gripe is that the gripper ends don't quite open far enough to grab the bowl with one hand. You'll need both hands to grab a custard bowl with these, or maybe bend the gripper ends out a bit more on an anvil, or something. Either way, I will use these. The handles are long enough, I can safely place a custard bowl well into the center of the oven rack, without even having to pull the rack out, and I've still got some room to work with, without burning my fingers on the rack.I like the cork that coats the grippers. Makes for a very safe grip.Since cork does not ignite until 572F (300C), these are ideal for grabbing custard bowls out of an oven set to a baking temp of 450, or better. These are very ruggedly built, though I'm in agreement with another poster, that the rivet at the pivot is kind of questionable from a maintenance standpoint, but as cheap as these are in terms of price, just buy a new pair if the need ever arises. LOL.
