Despite the specs saying it works with Android devices and Pixels, it does not. You can't cast to it, nor can you screen mirror and all of the screen mirroring apps do not work with it, either. Unfortunate and also wish it came with batteries as I had to go get two AAA batteries for the remote before I spent too long trying to get it to work.

This review reflects the things that are important to me. What is important to you may differ - but I will clarify my priorities in order:1. Picture Quality2. Ease of use3. Sound4. Style5. Features6. ConnectivityProjectors are not for everyone and every situation. These cheaper LED projectors have unique advantages and dis-advantages (mostly that you can lug them around and bump them without the bulb blowing!) If you decide you want to buy one, the Totpro X5 is great and has the best picture of the LED projectors I have owned (I own 5).My daily-driver is an £800 (traditional bulb) Optoma ceiling-mounted projector and these LED ones do not compete, but they are for very different uses. I will be putting this Totpro projector in my daughter’s student house.NOTE: For my use I use an Amazon FireTV stick. With all sources you MUST ensure the player is configured to playback using the same framerate as the original source (i.e. 24fps for films, 50hz for TV etc). If you fix the player at 1080p/60 then you will get some frame judder. Things will be so much smoother if you set your FireTV/Chromecast/Roku/whatever correctly.Image QualityLet's start with the most important. In the right viewing conditions, picture quality on this projector is great and in a dark room contrast is excellent.Every generation of LED projector claims a brightness improvement. It's not true - my oldest LED projector (from 2019) is just as bright as the new ones. You really have to ignore the brightness ratings the manufacturers give for cheap projectors – they all talk rubbish. I would estimate this as approx. 250 Ansi lumens (Ansi lumens are the industry standard for measuring projector brightness) which is perfectly fine if you can control the brightness of your environment. Colours are rich and not artificial - looking. The image processor on this projector is great - older ones would introduce a blue or magenta tinge but not this one.I prefer to enable game mode (as it softens the image slightly – by default the images are very over-sharpened and you should definitely turn the sharpness down!). I also prefer the ‘warm’ colour setting for this model. This reduces peak brightness slightly but is worth it.Shadows are rendered very well – there is a nice, gradual drop-off towards black, rather than a cut-off where everything near black gets chopped off at the knees.I have included some sample images. Including dark scenes so you can see the black aren’t getting crushed. I included 2 images of Rocket, one with the lights off and one with them on to how how that hurts contrast. The wider picture of the room shows the lighting I used to take all the other pictures. You can see I didn't use a completely dark room, and the projector was still perfectly watch-able. If it were Mid-day, however, I would have needed to close the curtains. The lens is greatly improved over others – with the best overall sharpness, edge sharpness and reduced flare (which causes bright object to smudge outwards) than any I have seen. I didn’t even notice my Wimius X3 had lens flare until I put it side by side with the Totpro (which has none)! The image brightness drops off verty slightly towards the edges (and I have included a picture of the Totpro boot-screen to show this. This is actually very good compared to others. I guarantee you will not notice it when watching films or TV.Overall, the picture is great. I got the opinions of 3 other people, and they all preferred the Totpro over my other LED projectors.MountingI think the updated (TR25) version they are selling now has a tripod mount. I really wish mine had this – it has been missing from portable projectors for far too long! I had to use a projector stand for this review. The projector is designed to sit mid-screen height (rather than below or above like more expensive projectors) which makes it impractical for ceiling mounting or placing on a table. If you did this, you would not be able to focus both the top and bottom of the image and you would need to use the digital key-stoning – which makes the image smaller and worse. Please only mount this at the correct height! It is quite long-throw (needs to be far from screen to get a large image) so you may even want to mount it behind the sitting area and project over people heads if possible – and putting it on a tripod is ideal for this config.AudioI would always use external speakers on any TV/projector. This (X5) projector has a head-phone out you can use to connect externals. And modern Bluetooth standards. The menus work very well with the remote and adding Bluetooth speakers was easy. No significant Bluetooth lag either. As I use a FireTV though, I would typically pair BT speakers directly to the FireTV.Built-in audio is good. It doesn’t distort at full volume – which is handy as the speaker is not loud. It’s fine for watching the news or sport.Fan noise is there but not distracting. You will hear it in quiet/silent scenes, but that’s just a projector thing!FeaturesIt has some nice features but I only used them in passing.Screen casting is great to shop photos from your phone – but not video as it’s too jerky, Not the projector’s fault – that’s just how screen casting is.Overall, for the price and picture quality – if you can control your room brightness then this really is a great product. The updated styling on the TR25 version looks much nicer too!

I recently purchased this projector and I am thoroughly impressed with its performance. It has all the features I was looking for and more! The 2.4G/5G wifi and Bluetooth connection are very fast and stable, which allows me to play mobile games with ultra-low latency and watch my favorite sports live broadcasts in real time. The built-in Bluetooth function is also very convenient for connecting my wireless headphones and speakers. What's even more impressive is that this projector can play Microsoft Office & Adobe PDF files directly from your USB stick and view them on the projector. This makes it perfect for business presentations, unlike other projectors that only support text format and need to connect to a laptop/pc.Overall, I highly recommend this 1080P projector for home movie entertainment, backyard parties, games, and any other fun activities. The 3-year repair and lifetime professional technical support provided by the manufacturer is a testament to the quality of this product. Five stars all the way!
