We’ve had these pruners for about three weeks. We have done a lot of pruning, including removing hundreds of branches and limbs from a pomegranate tree that hadn’t been properly trimmed in years. Several other trees and shrubs got long overdue trimming as well. Then another few hundred cuts to fit the trimmings into the green totes. The pruners were flawless and my wife did 75% of the cutting without complaint. She’s actually enjoying it now, previously arthritis really limited this type of work for her.

This pruner works great, is very sharp, keep fingers away from the blade that does the cutting. Will cut branches that barely fit in the jaws. Would have given it a 5 overall rating, but the on/ off button is a little difficult to use, too small. After you get used to this button you will not have any problem with it.CHANGED MY RATING TO A 5 AFTER I SAW THAT MY WIFE CAN OPERATE THE ON/OFF BUTTON OK. THIS BUTTON MAY PREVENT SMALL KIDS FROM BEING ABLE TO TURN ON THIS PRUNER WHICH WOULD BE A SAFETY FEATURE. Press & hold the button until you see a green light. Then operate the handle lever quickly 2 times, the pruner will now work & the other green lights will light up showing how much charge there is in the battery. If you do not turn it off with the button & do not use the pruner it will automatically shut off in 10 minutes.

I've had this for a year and use it regularly. It works really well, and the pruner has stayed sharp and tight. Just watch those fingers, there is nothing to keep you from accidentally loping one off. Easily avoided with good habits, but you can get going very fast with this tool. I find it super-efficient for loading trimmings into cans, bags, etc.

It is built on a Makita quality levelI dropped a 35 year old,100 foot long hedge by 3 feet in 1 week using this product.I could run 3 days on a 2aH makita battery and it was at 50%.I oiled it every day before using.It is light wt, has an easy to use trigger, and can cut thick branches if needed.Blade wear is minimal if oiled every day.If blades aren't available from the maker, Makita has a 12 volt and 36 volt version they sell(over seas ?) Those blades may fit this one.

Really like the 4 jaw opening settings. It's strong enough to cut through some limbs I could never do with hand clippers. Only issue I have is the on/off button is a little pesky. But then again, this is my first week. Be patient with the lack of instructions, it's a steep learning curve.Addenda - very happy with the tool, but it really needs a STRONG safety warning: This tool is not for children or the accident prone.

Wanted a hand pruning shear that took my existing 18V Makita batteries. Took a chance on this unit.Not disappointed. Sturdy, lightweight when using the smaller 3.0 amp battery, slim handle, finger trigger is effortless, knives are very sharp and adjustable using the two supplied wrenches.No instructions came with it, but I discovered that by pressing the On/Off button, you can control how "open" the jaws get between cuts. So, instead of the jaws cycling from full open to full closed to cut, they can open just enough to handle the type of cutting you are doing.If you're cutting 1/4" twigs, it works faster if the jaws don't open to their max capacity. Cool feature.There are four jaw positions, based on how many LEDs are lit. Cycle through the settings by pressing the On/Off button. See the pictures for minimum and maximum jaw positions, and the two adjustment wrenches.Goes into "sleep" mode after 30 seconds of idle, but can be brought back to ready by pulling the trigger twice.Certainly not a toy to be left around curious children. No storage bag/box included, so I store the tool and its wrenches in a small plastic tool box to protect the jaws from damage and to slow down rusting.
