Pros: Lightweight! Stem looks really good! No machining or casting marks. Color is good. Classic lines. Just what I need to put modern 31.8 bars on a classic bike.Cons: Installation. I can see what people are talking about for not being tight enough. It's a 2 face bolt design so it's not going to have as much clamping force as the normal 4 bolts on a 31.8 stem.I started with the standard 5nm of torque for faceplate bolts. In less than an hour of riding on the trainer the bars were sagging and could be moved by hand.I took it apart and saw some marks on the inside of the stem so I know it had good contact. I applied some fiber grip assembly paste (even though it is aluminum on aluminum) and reassembled it.Minor improvement so I decided to go for broke and see if I could get it secured.Alternating bolts and going up about 1 nm at a time to not strip out the 4mm bolts, I increased up to 10nm (about 88 inch pounds) it has been holding fine.So if you are specifically looking for a vintage looking quill stem for some 31.8 bars AND have a torque wrench, give them a try otherwise there are better options.If a revision comes out that uses 5mm or 6mm face bolts or they can figure out how to go with 4 bolts closer together like a ritchy stem I think it would would better and I would snap them up in a heartbeat.

I used this on my retro bike build. I needed a quill stem with a removable face plate to fit my handlebars. This works good and looks the part. No issues at all and I've put about a 100 miles on it now.

Complete waste of my time and money. The inside diameter of the handlebar clamp is too small, and I didn't notice until one of the incredibly soft bolts stripped the hex in the head. It was a fight getting it off, now my handlebar has scratches in the black finish too. Avoid this product!

Terrible clamp, the 31.8mm clamp almost killed me. It does NOT hold the handlebars tight. The second day I rode them I hit a big bump, my road bars swung downward and I crashed into a car. I've worked as a mechanic in the cycling industry for 28 years so they were installed correctly. Both the faceplate bolts were torqued to 6nm. No matter what I do they will not get tight enough to safely hold a handlebar. The hardware uses a 4mm Allen and both of them are so shallow that even if you could get them tight enough, the heads strip out. Unless you have a good dental plan or heath insurance, don't get these.
