the bolt that is included should be a carriage bolt, but it's not.Also bolt is about an 1.25 in long.Trailer cargo doors are at least 2 in. may be 2.5in. wide.

These door latches were a near-perfect replacement for the old, rusty hinges they replaced. All of the hardware is included, so the most difficult part of the installation was removing the old hardware. The only other recommendation I have is to consider putting some silicone sealant around the latch. It might not be absolutely necessary, but my old hinges had sealant around them, and it can't hurt to have a little extra protection against water intrusion.
