Simple but Helpful USB Tester
The USB tester is designed for easier and more intuitive use, equipped with descriptions for the 4 function keys.

System Settings

Time, Brightness and Temperature Settings: Long press "NEXT" button to select and change the value, then long press "NEXT" button to confirm the change.

Upon receiving device I notice no USB-C cable included, and no user manual resource.I will report back about the function ability after I find some information on the device. In it's simplest format, using the input output USB ports at opposite ends seems to show current draw and voltage drop.

It appeared to be a perfect device and worked great 4 Times then it stopped turning on and working.The company contacted me and offered a return or replacement immediately! I really liked the unit so I requested a replacement. I got the replacement and it works perfectly! Excellent quality, and Excellent customer service. I will be posting pictures of it in use. This is a definite must have device, from a company that backs its product!

I ordered this after taking an Intro to Device Repair class. Alot of diagnostic data can be gleaned from a device like this. Upon delivery I took it for a quick test drive on an LED fixture. Includes a nice, but somewhat short, USB C cable and detailed instruction guide. Pleased so far!

It works fine when I use the USB A type connector on the input. I could not get it to work using the USB C input connector. I tried reversing the cable as they suggested, nope, still didn't boot. So I made it work by using a USB A to C converter connected to the A input. Other than that problem it seems like a useful tool.

This device was purchased mostly to check the ability of cables especially now, with many USB type C cables labeled as 'QC' or 'PD' compliant that really are not (Cheap cables don't work!). The bad point is that it doesn't plug in if the USB type 2 port is indented (i.e. some laptops). It is not very solid in construction. That said, it is always on my desk.

I have two different USB meters, I bought this one because the display on the other is small and hard to read. I really like this meter, but I just realized it has a major shortcoming in certain circumstances.I have a dash cam that stopped working. So I pulled it from the car and plugged it in with this meter. With a small USB power bank it just didn't work, power bank LEDs started blinking. With a big beefy USB power bank it shows 5.110V and 0.803A constant. Reasonable numbers. But then I plugged the older USB tester inline with this tester. It shows that the current is all over the place, from 0A to well over 2A, and the voltage is occasionally dropping to around 4V. I think what this tells us is that this tester (the one this review is about) is using a lot of averaging and is not showing transients. It tells me my dashcam is drawing normal current and the voltage is not dropping out. But the other one tells me the dashcam is probably hitting overcurrent protection, shutting off and then doing it again.My conclusion is that if all you want to know is how fast your device is charging, this one is fine. But if you want to know what's happening with a malfunctioning device, it may hide some symptoms.

The meter does its job of measuring voltages and currents accurately. This is the best tool to determine USB cable quality as it can detect the resistive levels in each attached cable. I was charging a tablet with a Micro USB cable and the meter indicated a low 0.2 A current flow. Replacing the cable allowed the tablet to charge at 0.7 A and the meter indicated a current drop to 0.1 A when the tablet was fully charged. It works only with USB type A, Micro USB type B, and USB type C cable connectors. No Mini USB or Lightning.

This meter, when it works, is so cool and has a great modern screen with high resolution and crisp clear text/numbers. However, sometimes it doesn't register amps and therefore watts are not calculated either. This happened when I used a PD 30W and also a PD 65W charger with a USB-C cable plugged into an amazon basics wireless charger (claimed 15W). The display shows 19.xx volts but no amps being pulled.Other times if you have the USB-C cable plugged in it won't show anything but if you turn, note the universal direction cable, around it will then register and the display will show up. literally turn the cable upside down and it starts working?!?Another gotcha is that you must have the input and output correct otherwise it won't power. Note that sometimes, haven't figured out why, but if you have the power source plugged into the output (it's hard to read what is in and out) then it will power up and then you plug in the destination the display goes away; thus indicating you were wrong in how you plugged it in.But I will say that mostly this works and works very well plus has really neat advanced features like graphing of Volts and Amps over time in a scrolling line graph. Lots of info for view and peruse.Overall this is solid and I give it the full 5 stars, even if it is a bit flaky and not perfect and doesn't work all the time, I chalk that up to the varied charging circuits and the only somewhat regulated and standardized industry.

I would give this a 0 if I could. First, it has no casing - just the sandwich boards with everything exposed. Second, it died after the second time I used it. Third, the written instructions are so horribly written as to be nonsensical. Fourth, I followed the instructions precisely on setting the language to English, but it remained in Chinese. Fifth, nothing about this gadget is intuitive - you have to be a trained professional to use it. I even watched youtubes on it, but they were unnecessarily complicated too. I bought it to test the wattage on various wall adapters I have lying around. Sometimes it would give the wattage reading, sometimes nothing (even though it was showing other readings). This shouldn’t be that hard. Finally, it is ridiculous that it only takes a USB C cable in one direction. One of the reasons those cables are desirable is BECAUSE the are uni-directional. I have rarely been so annoyed by a product.

Für dieses Produkt habe ich eine Ausnahme gemacht und in den VSA bestellt. Ich hatte Glück und ein Produkt erhalten, das wohl in Asien produziert wurde. Die Angaben sind korrekt und es interessant, zu prüfen, wo man seine USB-Geräte bevorzugt laden sollte. Der Postweg war etwas lang, aber das Messgerät macht genau, was es soll.
