Excellent hot sparks. If you have taken the time to prep your tinder bundle correctly. You will have fire on the first strike (after the black coating is gone)!

The replaceable ferro rod makes just like brand new when you finally wear out the original rod which should take a couple years depending on frequency of use and exotac's recipe for firesteel is excellent. You can usually get a fire going with one strike

For some reason this refill is hard to find when searching for Exotac Firerod parts. This very low price is fundamentally the reason I bot the Firerod in the first place.I bot two of these replacements for fear this low price wouldn't be available for long. The ultra low price even includes shipping.This is a real Exotac refill, full size, and comes in a zipper lock bag together with in an inner ultra small zipper lock bag containing a spare o-ring.Over all, can't be beat.
