I use these exclusively for cooking and prep work in the kitchen. I keep my knives skin-melting sharp, and while it hurts less to be cut by a sharp knife than a dull one, I'm not trying to redecorate my kitchen in a goth motif every time I slip up. Plus, my spouse has way less confidence with knives and spent most of her life using a cheap steak knife to cut everything from strawberries to watermelons. I got these to help her build more confidence with bigger knives that will make her life easier. They work like most cut gloves do. If you try to stop someone from stabbing you, they will not keep a knife from going through your hand. These are designed for reducing or preventing the sort of cuts that come from routine work in the kitchen (shucking oysters, slicing things) and around the shop (sharp edges, heavy items that aren't especially sharp until you try lifting them). The listing also suggests them for woodworking, but I would suggest these are only adequate for certain tasks. I would not whittle with them as there's too much perpendicular knife action. But they'd be fine for certain tasks.Five stars not necessarily because they outperform other cut gloves I've used (they don't for most of them), but simply because 2 pairs for $10 (four gloves total) is a really significant value these days on cut gloves that work.

Over the holidays, I had to clean and prep 14 lobsters for guests. I had to remove the meat from the claws and tail, which is hard on the hands. These gloves saved the day and made the chore much easier. They rinsed off but needed a good washing afterwards. I'm keeping these handy in the kitchen for future jobs where the hands need protection. A good value too!

These gloves appear to be pretty well made, and I found no defects upon inspection. As far as fit goes, they fit OK. Not the best fit, but not the worst I've ever had in a glove. Of course you wont' be wearing them over long time frames (usually anyway), so the fit is not that big of an issue. The fingers are pretty supple, but there is some decrease in finger mobility, as would be expected in a glove designed to resist cuts. Being one not to take unnecessary chances, I have not deliberately tried to cut myself with these gloves on. I am a skeptic at heart, so don't usually believe claims until I see for myself. I will use these gloves in my woodworking and metalwork, and determine if they actually do what they say they do over time and experience. In the one project I have worked on so far using these gloves, I did not get cut. But then again, I don't really know if I would have gotten cut if I wasn't using them. I will update this review after additional real world testing.

I got these to protect my hands while carving limewood, basswood, and walnut. They are nice, fit well, and are somewhat protective against minor abrasions but they are not what I would consider to be cut-resistent or cut-proof. I would still exercise safety when using them because I found that a really sharp knife will slice right through the area between the thumb and the forefinger. I gave 4 stars because of the fit and how well they are made. I suppose if a chef were to use these in the kitchen and were to exercise safety precautions, they would work well in that environment. For woodcarvers, there are better solutions available.

Never again. With these gloves I hope to avoid that bloody mess. I know you probably would like to have me run a blade up and down them or try and mash a knife edge along my finger, but to be honest I am chicken. They absolutely seem to be resistant to cuts and fit my hands just right, but I simply do not have the guts to push my luck. I hate slicing anything on my body - it literally gives me an aching chill just thinking about it.Nonetheless, these feel durable and flexible, and the next time I use the mandolin I will report back if I get sliced. Otherwise, these will be kept handy, and for sure I am satisfied!UPDATE 12-6-2024I did use the mandolin again, this time to slice several bananas into chip size for the dehydrator. I counted 7 times I would have absolutely have lacerated a finger, all of them were me trying to get a stuck, mushy banana slice past the blade. Usually I only do it once (because I bleed and shrink away). I'm happy to report how well these worked each time! Not a nick. Pretty nice grip.
