I have a bad shoulder. If I use a sledge hammer for very long I hurt for a week or more.Today I opened this up and went to a clothesline pole in the backyard that needed to be removed.Whoever put it in originally must have gotten a great deal on concrete because they used so much. This thing went through it like it was powder. So what would have taken me hours took minutes.Even if I only use this once or twice a year it's worth it.UPDATE: Almost a year later. It's one of my favorite tools. When I need it I save so much time. When my friends need a hammer it saves them time and a rental.I ordered a extra set of bits and broke out the welder and some pipe to make a fence post driver. This is worth it alone. My in-laws used it to demo their entire driveway. This thing has paid for itself many times over. And even with moderate to heavy use it runs like new and looks almost new.

For the money this is a decent little Jack Hammer. Great for the DIY homeowner. I broke through a 4 inch slab to install posts and had no problems. You don't want to run a very long 10 15 minutes then take a break. It works better working in short bursts then long durations. I feel that you will be happy with this purchase, it's heavy enough to do what you needed to do but yet won't break the bank to have sitting on your shelf for the days that you need to use it. I will be looking into other ends as this could also be a T post pounder and several other tools rather than just a jackhammer, with a different end attached to the Hammer. I think you'll find that what they want to rent for the rental store for you can have one on your shelf 24/7 that will be just as good as the rental. The gloves the safety goggles all that stuff is pretty cheap but hey we already have the good stuff on safety when you're the DIY person. Be sure to fill with oil prior to use. I just used a straight SAE 30 weight oil. Haven't used it enough to know how long it'll last before refill as needed. I think for light duty around the house the occasional whole here and there this is the ideal tool for the homeowner. The machine is built well and is made out of metal short of a few plastic pieces. But otherwise ergonomically it's pretty decent. I even ran it on two hundred foot extension cords which I knew wasn't the best for it but it was the only option I had. And it worked fine. It didn't seem to be any slower than when it's just plugged into the wall without an extension cord.

Updated review (after 2 years) at the end.I initially left a so so review because the hammer had a bad leak. Once I finally got customer service and the correct words went to the correct department, they shipped me new parts and everything works as advertised. I would give this a 5 if I didn't have all the initial problems but I will add (sorry don't recall the name) whoever I was dealing with in China customer service gave it their all, eventually it all turned out good.As for the hammer itself, I got this because I am in AZ and the ground is hard as hell, the hammer worked pretty good for what we needed but it is intermittent on dirt, since you don't have the concrete or rock to retract the hammer, it takes a little more effort. Again, for the price I would buy it again.Last note: if you have a bad back, hips or anything....I'd hire someone....but if you are stubborn like me, at least watch your posture while hammering ie....don't hold the hammer to the side while in use, stand straight up etc......I killed my back, enough that I won't use this thing again, that's not a product issue, that is a "me" issue.2 year update: I upgraded my review to a 5. This thing is perfect (except for another leak), we have planted so many trees, dug up the ground for pavers, planters, gardens etc....It has saved the day on many occasions. It's just heavy enough where it does the work for you, you don't have to push or dig, it hammers into the ground like it should then you shovel out. It's not industrial, it's not built for using it all day, every day but I have used it several hours each day that I did use it with no issues-----the leak: I've had it 2 years now and it has paid for itself, no warranty so I am SOL. It has a blown seal so it is definitely leaking oil, not a ton but it is leaking. I am a bit disapointed since I take care of this thing but now I will have to find a new seal, just hoping it's a cheap and fairly easy fix.In the end.....It is worth the money, it has paid for itself, I would absolutely buy again....and customer service was pretty good.
