This is an excellent gps tracker for parents of teen drivers. Some teens hate to share their location. That’s not a problem any more! 😂

I purchased the tracker on May 6th to put in my daughter’s bag to track her when she is on the bus. The tracker remained in a small pocket on her bag and was on her wheelchair all day. A few days ago I noticed that the tracker stopped updating on the app. I tried to power it on however it was completely dead. After placing it on the charger for over an hour it still did not power on. I contacted Family1st support who responded to me immediately however they offered no remedy. Please note that they do not stand by their products and paying a monthly subscription which costs more than the gos device , I would think they would have good business sense. This product is faulty. Very disappointed but I will research another device that will give me peace of mind as well as consistency.

So far I am impressed! We have only owned the unit it for a few days so I will update my review accordingly if need be.Let me begin with why we purchased this: We want to be able to spy on our teenage daughter. Or shall I rephrase it nicer as... "verify we can trust our teenage daughter"- she will be where she claims she is. You probably had this idea too (wink)! Any app that we have installed on her phone (Life360) can easily be disabled or if they turn off their wifi or the phone itself, then the locator is faulty. Bottom line, very untrustworthy as the only source. This tiny gps device sits underneath the driver seat (unnoticed) and you can track the activity on a website or download the app- much the same. **NOTE: Yes, you have to subscribe to a monthly fee. Nothing is free people?! At least good things are not in this world so your going to have to succumb to that. I hate reviews that say, "I didn't know you had to pay money??" Yes, you do! There is not one gps out there that you will not be required to pay a fee for monitoring. But for the basic plan here of $14.95/month... it's reasonable. Please note: the basic plan will only allow the gps to update your phone every 1 minute (the plan cost increases if you want the gps coordinates to update every 30, 10 seconds, ect.) One minute is just fine for our purposes. We don't care to monitor the car moving as "live feed" rather we want to see where it lands or sits for a period of time. The website and app provides a very detailed activity drive report to view if you are not monitoring the coordinates during real time. Also, the device conveniently updates once every three hours while the vehicle is stationary so as to conserve battery charge which is also a great feature. Plan on recharging the battery every week. If you anticipate this, it's no big deal. You just let it charge overnight. With so many similar items out there, I am quite impressed that this is easy, simple and relatively inexpensive.Above all, what impressed me the most is that after I set-up the device online, I receive an email almost immediately from a customer support person asking about the default HQ addressing being correct? They were concerned that there was a potential defect with the unit not matching the account address. I love it when you feel connected to REAL People- customer service and you don't need to call a number, wait on hold for 5 minutes, speak to a person who barely knows your language... how confident will you be in a product with that?!Perhaps we are overreacting as parents, but we like the car gps to ensure we know where are kids are.

This is nice because it's inexpensive and if you lose you can just switch it over with the same plan and it's 20 bucks. Children lose things all the time so it's perfect. I did notice that when the battery is dying the accuracy on location is off and it tends to freeze up. It's all really about the location of the device to like they say no places that are in boxes and a clear view of the sky helps. Perfect size for tracking a cheating spouse. Just slip it in there overnight bag, under passengers seat or in his work bag in a box of gloves and if they just happen to find it hey ask for it in the divorce. LOL jk it's only 20.00 you can replace it. It's actually it's not too bulky and it's not too heavy it can fit into a child's pocket a coat or so into the lining of a child's coat to where you could easily remove it to charge it it's simple easy to set up. I had also bought the magnetic box and the box that I had actually bought I had it on metal and the wheel well the front wheel well and it fell off twice and I retrieved it the first time but the second time it was a no-go I left is there on the freeway. But when I called and I let them know what happened because I went back out to where it said it was located I couldn't see it. But customer support replace the box and the device free of charge and I appreciate that so much because that tells me that they stand by their product and they appreciate their customers and the product is good it's affordable and you can afford it in the monthly plans are great it's not expensive at all that's perfect I would definitely recommend this to my friends and family and strangers it's only 20 bucks!

We bought this because our teenage son rides his dirt bike with friends on trails nearby. If he breaks down or doesn't respond to texts, we can easily track him down. Just know that when you buy this device, you will need to activate a subscription to the GPS tracking service. I pay $25/mo to have this track his whereabouts every minute. So I can run a report and see where he's been. You can pay more to get data points every few seconds if you need to.The device itself is well built. I bought the magnet case for it, which is very heavy duty and does a nice job protecting the device. Set up is pretty easy. The app / website is a bit clumsy but you can logically figure out what's going on. I was up and running within just a few minutes.Battery holds a charge for a good couple of weeks, which is awesome. But, it does lend itself to forgetting to charge it when it is time. The data points it collects will show you location, speed and battery life. So it's easy to see when it's time to charge it.For a simple solution to real-time tracking, this one works perfectly.
