I wanted the smallest M.2 2230 size enclosure, and this seems to be it. Popped in a WD SN740 256GB M.2 drive and tested it. Since so many complained about the included cable I used my own (a 6" CableCreations 40GBPS Thunderbolt4/USB-C cable).Black Magic Speed test (which is copying over a huge single file) gives just under 1GB/sec read/write speeds. The more accurate AmorphousDiskMark speed test, which copies actual normal files (as in a ton of smaller files instead of one HUGE file) is also right on par to my Sabrent 2280 enclosure, and Dockcase 2230 enclosure (both 10gbps rated speed).I then tested how hot this little guy would get. I was worried because the crappy Dockcase (also a smaller 2230 enclosure) gets up to 65ºC on the outside of the case (79ºC on the SSD itself!) -- this Fanxiang only got up to 54ºC on the back, and 51ºC on the front of the case! That was AFTER I had already copied 140gb from another M.2 enclosure to this one (which is about as fast as it'll ever get). I put the included thermal pads on both the front and back of my M.2 chip (used like one and a quarter of them --they include 4x-- per side as I wanted maximum coverage). All in all, even if I did in fact need to buy a different cable (which again, I NEVER tested the original), this is still an AMAZING deal - especially for how small it is. I'll report back in 6 months or a year or whatever with how it's holding up.

I’ve used SSDs from fanxiang before and they’ve always been reliable enough for my needs, so I grabbed this fanxiang SSD Enclosure because its tiny size for 2230 SSDs caught my eye. I wanted a fast, portable way to repurpose an NVMe drive for extra storage or quick file transfers. What I like most is how snappy and small it is. The USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) speed makes moving big files a breeze—way faster than my old USB 2.0 enclosures—and it supports M and B&M key 2230 SSDs perfectly. It’s lightweight, fits in my pocket, and the build feels solid for something this cheap. Plugging in an NVMe drive was easy, no tools needed. The only hiccup? It gets warm during heavy use—not hot enough to worry me, but noticeable. Also, the included cable’s short—fine for a laptop, less so for a desktop. At $18.99, it’s a no-brainer for turning a spare SSD into a speedy external drive. Works great for my needs.Rating: 5/5It’s 5 stars for being fast, tiny, and reliable—exactly what I wanted. A longer cable might be nice, but it’s not a dealbreaker.

This enclosure is an excellent way to reuse a 2230 NVMe drive that you're upgrading on a device (like a Steam deck or similar). This enclosure is a stylish all metal design, has a lanyard slot, and it's easy to open with one bolt.It works well and if you're crafty, you could use a heat transfer double-sided tape to move heat from the drive to the enclosure.

High speed and portable SSD enclosure. Good for keeping OS's on to boot from for testing and good value.

This is the second time I have ordered this product and the first time it was delivered, the enclosure was sealed in a different plastic, similar to how the connectors. However, if you compare the pictures and the content of the packages I received from the first one and the second one, you'll see what's missing and it is definitely not new.

Ordered this ssd enclosure to build my own travel external drive. the build quality is excellent. It's very solid and sturdy. I really like the small form factor of this SSD case. It's very easy to setup. just open up the case and insert the ssd into it. then plug in the usb cable and it's ready to use. overall, it's a great choice if you want a small ssd case. It's excellent for traveling.

Got this one without checking the NVME SSD's length. I intended to get one for my 2280 SSD, but I didn't know they come in different lengths, so I didn't check this case's actual enclosure sizing. And when I received this case it's very small and my 2280 NVME won't go into this case. So that's a bummer to begin with. However, luckily in one of our older, dated computers for the kid's office, I found a 2230 NVME SSD on that PC's motherboard. I got to work and cloned the 2230 SSD into a brand new 2280, with a much larger capacity. I now freed up this 2230 NVME SSD to work with this case and tried it out.At first glance, I was puzzled at how slow the transfer rate went. I then found out that I was plugging it over to the USB 1.0 and 2.0 ports with the older PC's. max transfer rate I got was all below 50 mbs. I went ahead and tried this out on a USB 3.2 port and got speeds in the hundreds. Not gigs, but hundred meg speed is achievable with this, I think it's likely due to the NVME SSD itself being sort of dated and gen 1 or so. Anyway, all in all, this thing works if you're having to fit a 2230 NVME SSD into it. Any other sizes are too long for this. I went through all this hassle for curiosity and it being time for an upgrade for a larger drive to free up some smaller 2230 NVME to test this. But on a normal day, I probably would have opted to cancel this order or return it. In a nutshell, it does work well like it should. Just do your research and make sure this case applies for your 2230 form factor NVME SSD.

First off this enclosure is TINY. I placed a standard size lighter in the photos for scale; it's about half the size of the lighter. This kit includes everything you need except for the SSD itself; it even includes a tiny screwdriver. It includes both USBC to USBA and USBC to USBC cables but as I'll discuss next you should not use them. The kit also includes four heat spreader pads to help thermally bond the drive to the aluminum enclosure. I purchased a low-cost 2TB SSD to put inside and the first round of speed tests were a bit disappointing, coming in at less than half the speed I expected. I swapped the cable out for a thunderbolt-certified version and the drive immediately performed as expected and runs at more than double the speed as it does through the included USBC to USBC cable. Overall it's a great package you just need to supply your own cable.
