My 7 year old loves this. The first few pages have different small practice faces of different animals. The pencils are refillable lead. She loves it.

Love this little drawing kit! Comes with an assortment of mechanical pencils and extras. My daughter had fun doodling and trying to practice drawing. Colors were bright but erases easily. Great activity for rainy days. Wish there were more pages!

Vine Customer Review of Free ProductI got this Step by Step Learn to Draw Food Animals portfolio for my 9 year old granddaughter who loves to draw and create. She had so much fun following the examples shown in the beginning of the book and we giggled over the fun food/animal combinations. She then flipped through the pages and found in the back of the book some pages that give a suggestion yet allows the child to come up with the food/animal combination and then draw it on that page. She was so excited about her new creation of a Llamacado and I was in awe of her creativity and ability to translate an idea into an accurate drawing! I had her sign her name and add the date so we can remember this day, being creative at her Mimi’s.I definitely recommend this drawing set. It includes everything it says it does and each item works as it should.

When I used to get these books it was always horses and other animals but I love this idea. I got this for my 11 YO and 4 YO art area and we took it on a road trip because the colored pencil refills were intriguing for my 11 YO, you know, until she had to do it, ha ! On said road trip I sat down to do it with her and I found myself having a great time and learning how to make all kinds of cute little critters. I think this is great - it shows you the steps simply and you can do multiple per page which is essential if you want to keep kids attention these days. The pencils are cool and the paper is good quality. I am 38 and I can say that I had a great time learning and drawing these and I think that my lunch notes are going to be MUCH cooler this year. My 11 YO didn't have the patience for it but I also showed my 9YO niece and she and I really had a good time with it.

Now that my niece is older, she's started getting into drawing. I was really into drawing at her age too...even took some drawing classes in college when I got older. My niece is really into the Kawaii style of drawing...like really cute animals, foods, Emojis, etc. When I saw this book showing how to draw and merge food and animals together in a cute way, I knew she would love this book.This book comes with everything you need to get drawing. You get mechanical pencils that comes with different colored pencil leads, so it's almost like having a mechanical color pencil. There are a nice amount of different drawing walk throughs...like it starts you off easy by teaching you how to draw animal faces, then progresses from there step by step until you're drawing your first complete food animal. After you do all the walkthroughs for premade food animals, there's some sheets that tell you to draw a specific food and animal in your own way and then at the very back are blank pages to use however you want to draw whatever you want. The pages are nice and sturdy, so no worry of ripping when erasing any mistakes you may have made. The printing on each page is crisp and clear...no smudges or smears.I would definitely recommend this step by step drawing pad for anyone...kids and adults can enjoy drawing these food animals together (cause that's exactly what my niece and I are going to do once I give this to her for her birthday).

This set is perfect for a travel bag or for a road trip and the pencils are in a resealable side container hooked to the top spiral of the drawing pad. Some pages have step-by-step directions, and some are blank. There are three pencils that hold thick colored lead. There are more colors than pencils, so if you want multiple colors in your drawing, you will need to swap the leads out. Also, the colors are not an exact match with the colors of the examples in the book, so if the artist will be bothered by this, consider having some other colored pencils on hand. This is a fun book that would make a cute gift for someone on school break or planning a road trip.

I have a little grandson who has been drawing pictures since he was old enough to hold a crayon. His birthday will be coming up soon and I already know he'll be thrilled to see a new way to draw animals when I hand him this book. This cute book will give him all sorts of new ideas, and has plenty of paper included so he can experiment on his own. But first I'm sure he'll use the work pages to master the simple instructions to draw the super cute food animals suggested.I may try to draw a few of my own first (on my own paper of course), before I wrap up this book. I craft all the time and the "Flamingo Melon" has given me all sorts of new ideas already.This book makes it easy to draw even for someone with no artistic talent whatsoever. I especially like the little avocado animal on the back of the first page saying "Draw it your way". That takes away any anxiety a child might have of "not doing it right", or "not drawing it perfectly".Whenever I work with small children on any craft I always tell them right away that whatever they are making, or drawing, doesn't have to look exactly like the model they're trying to copy. In fact, I always tell them "The fact that yours looks a little different is what makes it look so special."I like that this book also comes with mechanical pencils that have different colored lead refills. That adds to the fun and drawing experience.This is a great book for anyone who likes to draw or even just doodle. And with a little encouragement with a book like this, who knows how amazing the "artist" will get!
