Yeah, yeah, yeah I gave into the hysteria and hype and decided to read them. I kept humming and arring about reading them and finally made my decision when I was out and women kept saying "his nice but his no Mr Grey" and thought oh!!! this must be good and to quote Anastasia "oh my".This is no ordinary erotica book (now dubbed housewife erotica or mummy porn), from the word go, you can sense that Christian Grey is no ordinary billionaire. He is a very screwed up human being who needs to give what he was not given when he was a child, protection. Yes, the books are not the best written books I have ever read, but I can certainly put that aside, especially when I think what my reaction would be if a hot, sexy, grey eyed man were to show me his 'room of pain', I would definateley be full of 'Oh My', 'woah' and look at his trousers 'hanging in that way'. Anastasia is supposed to be a very inexperienced, naive young women and that is exactly how the books portray her.My only confussion is that I do not know which book I love the most. The first one is definately shocking (to me) with all the talk of BDSM, chains, whips, riding crops but in the second one if you haven't fell in love with Christian (Fifhty, Fifhty, Fifthy) I challenge you not to. Everything comes to light and why he is the way he is and Anastasia definately challenges him and her conversations with her inner-goddess (in her gladiator outfit) or her subconsious looking over her half mooned glasses are hillarious and the third book 'oh my' very very good twist!!! Loved itGone are the days when women used to hide these books under their pillows. I love that everyone is talking about them, reading them in public (yes even in the canteen at work, brightened up dull days) and in my opinion if it is getting women more confident in saying what they want, then so be it!!! Now I do not know what to do with myself! After a week of solid reading, my eyes itching from staying up until all the hours that god sends (or at least until my fiance says are you ever going to put that book down) I now feel great from finally knowing how it ends but slightly amiss that if I read my next book it might not live up to my expectations. But here I go again another favourite added to my growing list of books and authors and knowing that this is one (or three) books that are never going to leave me!!!Do not know how I feel about a film version...... But I will be willing to give it a watch...... hehe.

I read all three books in a very short time and could not put them down. This book made me think of Christian as the ideal romantic for my romantic heart. Aside from his problem I kept wishing I was the object of his passion--wishing there was such a man out there who would want me and love me the way he loves Anastasia. Here is a very handsome, generous, extremely rich man who, once he finds someone to love, loses all interest in every other woman but Anastasia. He wants her for himself only and wants to protect her. He could have most women but no, he wants this one girl. He is so unaware of his unbelievable beauty which of course is a draw for most women. How many women would not want such a man? I think many women would love that sort of man. Beauty is a big turnon. He had everything--looks, money, loyalty and he really was a very nice person regardless of his hangups. He goes from being a dominant who hurts women with the whip, etc. without being intimate, to a man who is a fantastic lover and very erotic and very loving. He is constantly kissing, nuzzling, holding hands and doing everything to please his woman. He no longer wants to hurt--he wants to protect. Once he marries her he does not want a prenup because he feels everything that is his is hers. He is a little overboard in his jealousy and possessiveness but he is so endearing that I am sure a lot of women would love to have a man such as this. Oh what I would give to have such a man! I love it when he tells her she is his--"you are mine." For days I would simply close my eyes and daydream. His experimentation with eroticism is quite exciting.A lot of the stuff is repetitive. At one point I did not want to go through the love scenes in detail again. What bothered me is that they fought too much. If people are always snapping at one another I would think it would eventually erode the passion. I was glad she backed off a little. Fighting for me personally is a turnoff. I did not want to see this romance go to the dogs. I hoped and prayed that they would stay together.Another thing that was unreal was their having sex 2, 3 times a day. I kept wondering how they could keep this up year after year--unless of course she is a nymphomaniac. Eventually, this passion would wane--it is human. How long could this last. How many of us are as constantly willing as Anastasia? I think part of the appeal to Christian was that she was always ready, quite orgasmic and willing to experiment. That is great! It is a good way to keep the hubby at home since a lot of men would love this sort of thing but don't get it since their wives get tired and bored and then they stray. All in all I think this author wrote her own fantasy down in words. I want her to make them happy forever even though it is unrealistic. So many relationships end badly, it is depressing. When I read these 3 books they made me happy, I quite frankly would love to have her produce a whole series of them until they are both old. (laugh) I do not want it to end. I do not care how repetitive or boring. She kept me reading, eager to see what happened next. I love television a lot, but I did not turn it on because I found it difficult to put these books down. In real life it rarely happens. What is wrong with daydreaming and feeling good about a love story--a never ending love story no matter how improbable?I would love to say "thank you" to the author for writing such a "feel good" story. She took me into a world of wonder. Thank you.

As a Masters of English degree holding woman, I'm not ashamed to admit I really loved this series. I know many think it's poorly written with a hackneyed plot and have criticized the author for this, but I ask: who cares? Why does it have to be a brilliant piece of literature with masterful prose to deserve a read? If you're looking for a novel with inspiring verses and unending, overly artistic descriptions you want to highlight and quote forever, you won't find it here. It's very vernacular, but that makes it approachable - thus the millions reading it. There is something to be said for that.Ultimately, The Fifty Shades trilogy is just a romance about unconditional love. It just happens to be between some fairly kinky people with issues. E.L. James hit women (and brave men) with a story that provokes in many ways. Here is what you can expect (and what I most enjoyed):- The sex, which while copious and explicit, isn't grotesque at all. If anything, it's inspiring, playful, and awakening for many people...which is a great thing if you ask me! I think people need to stop evaluating the nuances (yes, it is a *tad* too perfect) and just have fun with the fantasy of it. America certainly isn't going to suffer with some more, ahem, satisfied people. Well done, Mrs. James.- The love story is slightly contrived, but captivating nonetheless. It is addicting for many because above all else, it is a romance. And despite the rough, we-can-tackle-anything exteriors most modern-age women display, most of us relish flowers and mushy stuff now and again. (If you don't, you'll appreciate the Mrs. Robinson character.)- The domination aspect is interesting. I readily admit I'm in the main demographics for this book: 30-something, married mom of 4 and as such, I lead a fairly traditional lifestyle where my husband and I are all about equality in our marriage. However, the truth is I'm the kid expert and even though I'm not the breadwinner, I run the house...unwillingly at times. Everyone waits for my lead. That's why I found the male character in here so attractive. His primal desire to take care of the protagonist - even though it's over the top and routed in his seriously traumatized youth - makes me swoon like a teenager. I'm sure in reality it would be restrictive and tiresome, but I would welcome it now and again. E.L. James gets this and allows us to gratefully indulge.-Finally, feminists criticize the book for it's supposed regression of what women (referencing the submissive qualities of the protagonist.) I disagree completely. I feel this series is actually empowering for women. For one, the protagonist was defiant and feisty (half her character's nature and half her obvious immaturity.) I didn't see her desire to please her love as submissive...it was out of unconditional love for him...which is considered a noble theme in countless works of literature throughout history. If anything, this book gets women talking about wants and desires. What could be more empowering than that?As for a review of this 3rd book in particular, the ending isn't it's selling point. It's fairly predictable and ties up in nice neat bow. It's the epilogue. THAT is the most intriguing part of the entire series if you ask me!

I had read the first book (a borrowed one) quite fast as my sister wanted it back, but after reading it, I immediately went online to pick up the three of them. I also wanted to take my time reading them, as I don't often get free time to do so. The second book was so good, I avoided reading the third so I could take it on vacation with me.It is REALLY good. Imagine my surprise when I got to Costa Rica and the books were on the store shelves, in English. There were three girls around the pool reading it also. Some of the things that Christian and Anastasia do are a little out there for me, but the feeling you get reading about their sexual habits is not anything I expected. I am a little older now, but it took me back a few years to some pretty fun times, with partners I cared about enough to experiment with. And the love they have for each other is something most of us can only dream of.I have heard that this series is being looked at for film....might I suggest the guy that plays the Mentalist (he was also in The Devil Wears Prada), SIMON BAKER. He has that sexy, yet boyish look to him, with a few sly, and shy smiles. He has the Red-ish/Blonde unkempt look to his hair. He looks incredible in jean and a shirt, as well as a suit. BUT,he is also VERY GOOD LOOKING WHEN HIS CLOTHES ARE REMOVED!!!, not to mention and incredible actor, someone you don't want to take your eyes off of.I can't wait to finish the books now that I am home, and I am sure that after Xmas, I just may read them again...no leaning these ones out, they can get their own...!!! ;) .....K
