The metal U shaped clip that holds this lock to your file cabinet came snapped broken. The quality wasn't there. Other than that it is a nice lock and a direct replacement for pretty much any file cabinet needed.

As far as a locking mechanism goes this seems to be a good sturdy constructed one. I have an old metal 2-drawer filing cabinet and assumed that the locks would be universal. I was wrong and therefore cannot use this at the moment, but see no reason that it wouldn't work as intended.I do take a star because there are no instructions included and you have to refer back to the seller's post for that.

I had to remove the previous lock after losing both keys. I could no longer lock my cabinet - until I saw this replacement lock. I have not installed it yet, but after measuring everything and examining the lock components, I expect a smooth installation process.

After install the locking works ok. Difficult to unlock. The hole in the cam is too close to the body of the lock and gets caught. Had to file the gold connecter piece to make it work. The description stated "Keyed alike". These are not keyed alike.
